Did I explain that correctly about the red and penciling for LaynaDon's 2 partridge?  Would you agree that they are both pullets?

Layna-You are so lucky to get girls............and you're allowed roosters!  I've re-homed over a dozen roosters this year!barnie.gif
I would agree yes. I think they have female colouring.

I feel like my 'regular' partridge is still blue tongue.png But I was told over and over it's just regular partridge.

Your girl has really nice type!

I have pretty basic colors.

Just black, white, and one partridge. Oh, and my buff roo. But I've been really hoping to expand that to colors like blue partridge and lavender smile.png
Well thank you so much! big_smile.png Steve is the father of all of my silkies right now. Hopefully my sizzle George will step up and make some funny looking kids as well.

I bred buff to blue and got an array of colours. So breed your roo to them all and you should have lots of fun looking kids! Right now I am not breeding for anything specific. I believe Steve has partridge in his background for sure though.

Thanks :) She's my favorite pullet. Actually, all I have are pullets right now. And my roo cockerel.

But they are 6 months, so they all better start popping out eggs and making babies soon!

This is him. But I'm not sure what I'll get, my chickens may not even breed!

They're kinda all dorks.

If your buff and blue make pretty colors, I hope my buff and white ,partridge and blacks get me something nice. Maybe a calico....?

Hi Cali! frow.gif Yes, I ordered a couple silkies finally. I couldn't resist. Especially watching yours grow up. They are adorable!

So, I either have 1 girl/1 boy or 2 girls it looks like. That's very good news. :) If I end up with 1 of each, that means babies and if I get 2 girls that means I get 2 girls! Who doesn't like that? (Well, actually it still means babies because my Nana has 3 partridge silkie and has offered hers to me to breed should I need them.) Anyways, should I post a better pic of #2's comb for y'all to get a better look? Would that be helpful?

Thank you for all the reviews. :) I appreciate all you guys' silkie knowledge.

My sweet puppy, Maggie (1yo), 3 adorable baby pet rats, Darby, Lilah, and Faye, 3 cats, 2 bunnies, a goldfish named Ghoti (pronounced "Fish"), 1 Khaki Campbell duckling, 1 Magpie duckling, and lots and lots of chickens!

I've been on the fence with this guy (or girl) for a long time.

He's 5 1/2 months old.

All of his other friends have been crowing for a while now, so I suspected pullet, but then again it could be a dominance thing.

I see no prominent comb or wattles, but it kinda looks like he could have streamers coming in,

though his friends that are his age have already had their streamers for a while....so I don't know.

I can't really tell by crest, he's a hatchery chick so the crest is poorer quality and hard to judge by.

Are they really hens and roos in the pairs?  Are they really a black and a blue pair?  Do their ages seem close to correct?

And an unrelated silkie question...the wing feathers on a couple of them look ratty all the time.  Why is that and is it normal?  Anything else you see about them that I need to know, please tell me!  I have a lot to learn.

Thanks for the input!   ~Shannon

I have a few more pics if needed but don't want to bore you with them!  Thanks again for the info in advance  :)

look like hens and roos to me. i'm no expert on colors but i think they are splash not blue.

If all else fails. The one to lay an egg is a hen.. If you are not sure put one chicken and only one chicken in a cage by its self if it lays an egg, band it with pink leg band.
