Now that I realize they annualey lose their feathers I think thats why theres soooo many white feathers spread out all over the pen. I have brown , and white silkies with an RIR. None of them are bald but there are an lot of feathers

now I do and am NOT looking foward to it!
I have silkies so its going to look like it is snowing !

my buffs dont look bad is it because the are not quite 6 months, the only one who looks different is Harriet(age 2?) who finally grew back her back feathers and now the others are picking on her? anyone have any ideas why?

do all chickens molt I see lots of feathers on the ground but I can find who they are from. how long do they molt for?
5 buff girls 3 given Casanova, Henryetta ( hen that has a spur) Harriet (was my bald girl who lost her eye before I got her).
4 sale barn pullets (ie. 1 hen and 3 roosters, I think)
Rusty the silkie and his mates: splash, angel, lil bit,
Sunshine the giant cochin

Do ducks molt like this because mine lose a few wing feathers and then we see the little feather nubs but they did it in July and didnt even look at ll bald. Is this normal or bad?

Of course, you have to come in with a ringer! I don't know though, that White Frizzle is lookin' pretty awful! I just started with some Whites this Spring, so now I know what i have to look forward to. The cockerel got so beat up as a chick though by the other cockerels and even the pullets that he is just filling in on the half of his body that has been bare all summer. The girls must still think he is okay, I am getting fertile eggs from that pen.
