Official BYC Contest: Worst Chicken Molt Pictures - Fall / Winter 2011 - Ended - Page 39

I hear ya, when one of my hens was molting it was like the worst PMS imaginable...she was SO cranky.....but never looked anything like these guys do.  I guess I have breeds that do mini-molts???  [tail and neck] big_smile

Wow, I heard of it happening in some birds, like mottleds and slivers, but not blacks. It also looks like theynt like a normal feather either? Almost looks like she's turning into a white silkie.

Is it just me or do her comb & wattles look pale in the 'after' pic too?  Could it be a symptom of disease or parasites?
I'm sorry, that's just nuts, I expected some white feathers, not her turning albino! lol  & I agree with the other poster, the feathers don't look 'right' either.
Can you tell us more about her- age, etc?

her comb is a little pale but I assume it might be because she is not laying, but she look healthy besides her molting.

she is about a year and a half.  her other room mates are fine *colombian wyandottes,BLRW,SLW*

she just looks normal besides her color.

Wow she looks like a totally different chicken! Maybe she isn't pure Black Orp, somewhere along the lines in her genes she has some white orp! is this her first or second molt being she's a year and a half!
