I have to vote for the frizzle too. She has to be the most pathetic molting chicken I have ever seen. Our little frizzle "Phylis" just went through her first molt. She looked pretty bad there for a spell (the neighbors thought we were beating her!) but she never looked as bad as that on her worst day. I feel like knitting her a little robe to wear.

Just try'n to stay ahead of the wolves, foxes, coyotes, hawks, snakes, racoons, opossums, stray dogs, etc, etc, etc.

In that state, if I was her, I'd be darn nervous anytime someone got out a frying pan! She gets my vote!

Oh, yeah, gotta get a pic of one of my girls, she's a horror show right now. I need to get her a coat, because we are expecting frost tonight.

I live in Central Maine on a small 1 acre "farm". I have a variety of hens, both standards and bantams. I just got a small incubator and want to start hatching some eggs!

This is my frizzle bantam cochin BJ molting.    I feel so sorry for her!

She is now wearing a little dog Halloween shirt to hide her nakedness.

If Timmy had a German Shepherd he wouldn't have been in the well in the first place.

Ameraucanas, FBCMs, BOs, BLRW, EEs, bantam Cochins, Black Australorps, Speckled Sussex, Rhode Island Reds, White leghorns, and Bobwhite Quail.   1 Beagle, 2 German Shepherd Dogs, 1 cat, lots of honeybees,  2 grown daughters and a very handy and understanding husband!

Wow.  I news birds molted, but not like this.  I feel bad for laughing since I also feel so bad for them.  I do think zazouse's 3 year old frizzle hen takes the cake.  Poor thing.  I am both terrified and excited to see my girls go through this for the first time.  Hopefully it isn't too cold or hot.  And that was a good question, can they get sunburned in that shape??
