Wow!!

Steelers says Thank Roo! to everyone who liked him.

Let's do it again - there are so many cool chickens out there!!!!

Who knew this fuzzy brown n yellow chick hatched by a bunch of third graders, who came to my house in a box on the school bus would turn out to be such a big beautiful rooster! I really did not want chickens let alone a rooster. He has become such a mellow and personable guy we fell in love with him, even the neighbors love him.

This was farm country here when I was born. I have a map of the township burned into my head from countless hours on horseback. Now I am surrounded by McMansions - suburban sprawl has not changed my spots. 1 husband, 1 son, 1 old red mare, 2 hound dogs, 3 cats, 3 chickens, and a rusty old pickup truck.

Frack is the queen of our household.  Due to being seriously injured by a rooster several years ago, she became our house chicken.  She recuperated in the kitchen and would go out in the front yard for a while each day.  After re-homing that roo, Frack rejoined the flock, but still came in at night to roost.  Finally, she did decide to roost outside with her friends, but still comes in to lay her eggs.  Every day she knocks/pecks on the front door until we let her in.  She will hang around the living room for a while.  Of course, she visits the kitchen for her special treats.  When she's ready, she climbs our 14 stairs, jumps on our bed, and lays her egg.  When finished, she will call us to be carried back down the stairs and then goes outside.  She is an amazing girl, knows her name, and comes when she's called.  She is housebroken, having only had a couple of accidents in the three or so years she has been coming inside.  Frack most definitely deserves "Best Chicken Ever"!

Steelers keeps track of his girls, he comes straight away when he is called and he LOVES his boy. Steelers is a very good and patient listener he also makes sure his boy gets safely on and off the school bus everyday.
