How much would you pay for PET/CHICKEN SITTING ?

Just throwing this out there and was curious....how many of you would pay a good fee for professional pet/chicken sitting while you are on vacation?  How much would you pay?  Is this a big issue out there and a need?  If so, how important is it?

If you died tonight, where would you spend eternity?  Please think about it.

Info we all need to knowhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDDGl79x4Pc&feature=my_favorites&list=FLIvzTTPS3Bg-qsbs8VPh__Q

It's definitely important to have someone you trust close up your chickens and let them out in mornings, check food and water.

We asked a neighbor boy to do these things when we're gone or coming home real late but he forgets so instead of paying him cash we just give our other retired neighbor all the eggs for that day/days. Works out for him to walk 150 feet one way to close them up at night and take the eggs.

I suppose if I was gone for more than day and half at a time I'd pay cash along with the eggs. Say for a 5 to 7 day period all the eggs and what? $20 or am I just cheap?

There's so little to fear from hatching even chickens dare. In fact, it's so easy a turkey can do it.

We pay $30 a day and the person must stay in our home.  We have 4 dogs, 5 cats, 22 chickens.

edited to add: even before chickens we paid housesitters $25 a day.  I think there is a need.

Before my family moved close by, I paid a neighbor $20 dollars a day to let my girls out in the morning, feed and water them, and put them up before dark. It means a great deal to me to have someone come over and look after my girls when I am out of town. My chickies need more attention than the three cats I have, and I was willing to pay good money for this service. Every town needs a good chicken-sitting service. Great idea and good luck to you!

Your cheap..lol.  I had my nephew watch my birds for 3 days...100 birds babies and all 7 coops..I paid him 75$ plus an additional 25$ because he cleaned out my big bantie coop and put all fresh shavings in it ...he earned that as it was the first spring cleaning sickbyc.  He collected my eggs and marked them accordingly and even separated them all out in cartons for me...watched my 2 cats and 2 dogs too...he can't do it anymore....I am always looking for someone to do it for a day or two and can never find someone I trust...

My chicken sitter charges $25/day, which included two visits. I bargained her down to $20+eggs, so $10 for each trip to my house. Worth it to me. smile

That's not bad.  I'm wondering how many people pay good money for housesitters and farm/pet sitters out there?  It would kind of be fun for awhile to travel around and sit houses and pets for a living....wonder if anyone pays travel expenses?

I have a friend who lives in a restricted development and can't have chickens, and she and her son are our chickensitters. They won't take any money but they do keep the eggs they collect. Yes, I know we are very lucky to have this arrangement.

When I go somewhere without the children, my mom comes and stays here to kid-sit, and the kids still have responsibility for the animals.

Married to my best friend and forever love on February 14, 2012.....Planning a much larger coop and run for many more hens (plus a roo, woohoo!) and then expanding to quail.  Currently overrun with dogs and children, but there's nothing about my life I'd change (except maybe having less laundry to do).

I have an animal loving homeschool teenager down the road from me and during camping season she comes daily and checks my 2 'tiels, 2 parakeets, and 4 (now only 2) guinea pigs for $7 a day.  She said she would gladly do the chickens too... I don't know what I will do when she graduates and goes off to college!

"Older women ... are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled." Titus 2: 3-5
Home school Mom of 3!  2 cockatiels, 2 parakeets, 2 guinea pigs... and 8 chickens!
