My chicken's toe is bleeding.

Earlier today I picked up one of my chickens, Penguin, and noticed blood was coming out from underneath the middle toe nail on her left foot. Why/how did this happen and is there anything I can do to fix it? She doesn't seem to be in pain but I'm afraid it may get worse or infected. Please help.
 
Funny you mention it, one of my girls ripped half of her toenail off exposing pulp. Makes my toes curl thinking about it. Anyways, I washed it off and cut the part hanging off of it, I put some blukote on it and I am now keeping an eye on her and her toe. She had pulp literally hanging out. Eeee

Back to you, clean it up, check it out, and monitor her.
 
Is the toenail broken and is the blood coming from the toenail itself, or from the skin surrounding the nail? Has the bleeding stopped? Sounds like either the nail itself broke (perhaps it got caught on something) or she cut her foot on something sharp. If you can't tell exactly where the blood is coming from you might want to wash her foot and get a better look. A broken nail should heal on its own if the break is small. If there's a cut on her foot, you might want to treat with Neosporin and keep it clean for a few days until the cut heals to prevent infection.
 
I won't be able to do anything til tomorrow morning since its dark, but I'll clean it tomorrow. The thing is if I clean it she''l get it dirty again as soon as I let her back on the ground.

if the nail has snapped and it's damaged the quick (blood supply to the nail) it will bleed and hurt. My dog used to rip her dew claws like this, I would flie the nail so it wouldn't catch on anything, then put sround 4 layers of clear nail polish and tissue. You end up with a hard waterproof cover that holds the torn nail together and will stay on at the nail grows out.

One of my almost-6-week old chicks perched on my arm & I noticed blood; I thought she had scratched me again. Then I looked closer & I noticed blood was coming out of the tip of her right middle toe nail.

I dipped her foot in some hydrogen peroxide, but it just kept bleeding. After a few cycles of dipping, drying off & putting pressure with a paper towel, it looked like it was working, but then blood started seeping again. My sister let me try this powder for when she cuts her cat's nails too short & it seemed to do the job.

I figure my chick must have injured herself while in the run, so I put her in the coop; I'll check on her in a few minutes to make sure the foot is okay.
 
I think the powder will probably do the trick. I use it on my dog when I clip her nails.
If I don't have the powder, I have been known to use flour or corn starch. They have
done the trick as well. Good luck :>
 
please can someone help my male chickens middle toe on his left foot i don;t know but a whole outer layer came off and now there is nothing but a sharp point all bloodied i don;t know waht to do please respond
