I have to talk POLISH! - Page 118

love-my-wolves     welcome-byc.gif      I like your birdies !  The WCB is frizzled and I would say a pullet.  In some types of black feathers there is a green sheen which is normal and some folks find attractive. I like it . It is not gender related. There is another genetic variation related to black feathers but I can not remember what it is.  The reddish feather on the Cuckoo is either what they call "leakage"  or the result of a failed project attempt to breed a Creole.  The spelling my be incorrect. What I am trying to explain is a style that looks Cuckoo on the lower body and reddish barred on the head, neck and breast.  Maybe some one will find a picture from you or you could do a search to see it for yourself.

Say what you mean, mean what you say, but do not say it meanly.

Thanks!! I got my pair from Ultra1classic and these are some of his breeding stock (http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/612510/12-plus-bad-azz-bantam-polish-and-lf-tolbunt-eggs#post_8101858) but I didn't know what the red was called. I don't know if he was doing a project, but he might have been! Any idea if I breed them together (they are not from the same parents) what I would end up with? Thanks!!!!

You're one lucky girl to get only two chickens and end up with a pair! I love the metallic green on my black chickens. It's like the beautiful tail of a roo but all over. I have it in my black EE's really strong and in my black Polish but not as shimmery.

I have leakage in one of my self black roo's. It will be interesting to see what his babies come out as. My friend SunnyDawn just hatched some for me. I think she got 9 out of 11 of the eggs I gave her to hatch. But he's not my only roo so we'll have to wait and see. Can't wait to sort through and see who's who. I kept him because someone told me with my white splash and him I could get WC Blue so I thought I'd shoot for that.

Did the leakage on your boy just show up in the last couple of weeks? Seems like I didn't notice my boys until he was about 3-4 months.

I see some real pretty green tint, which I assume to be male-traited, but it is frizzle and I cannot tell for sure. Thanks!!! Oh, they are almost 4 months old.

Yes, I just noticed the leakage recently. Here is a pic of him about a month ago, you can see a little leakage, but I thought it was just my camera. He is such a great little guy, so loving and well behaved. He loves to be held and cuddled, he's the first to jump on your leg for attention. I can't wait to see his babies!!!

Steph, do I see a little frizzle in him? Maybe Sarah can help here but I think there's an issue breeding frizzle to frizzle. I know very little about the frizzle thing but I think I read that. Would love to know if it's OK or what if any, the issues would be.

He looks smooth to me, but he is still too young to breed, so I will keep an eye out. I did hear breeding frizzle to frizzle will produce a frazzle (I think that's what it's called) and can result in bare spots and other undesireable traits. Thank you for mentioning it, I'll watch him closer just in case. big_smile.png

He dosent look like he has frizzle in him. No, you can't breed frizzle to frizzle.
He is cute even with the leakage. smile.png
