Silkymom, I put the chicks in a little light tent to take those photos. They only put up with it for a little while, but they stand still at first I think because they are just confused enough that they can't choose which way to run, lol. So if I act fast, I can get a good photo. :)

Hi Silkymom, I'm doing the Easter hatch.  I'm so excited too!!! wee.gifRemember, I was thinking about getting Silkie eggs from the breeder with SQ chicks?  Well, I ended up getting 24 BBS Silkie eggs from the lady!!!!! celebrate.gifThey are in the incubator.  Here is a picture of some of Sheri's silkies from one of her coops...They are really cute and these aren't even the SQ breeder pens:

Chickens: 1 RIR named Rhodie, 1 BO named Buffy, 1 PBR named Rocky!  2 EE named Angel and Ebony, 1 Welsummer named Ginger and 2 Golden Comets.

 

6 silkies named: Mysty Blue, Leo Pierre, Cinnamuffin, Cloud, Shadow and Icelynn

14 chicks in the brooder consisting of 3 Welsummers, 3 Barred Rocks, 2 Americanas and 6 d'Anvers

I put in 26 eggs in the incubator Saturday. There are 12 Cj's silkies eggs,7 Ameraucanas , and 7 of my own eggs(2 mixed breed eggs and 5 paint silkie eggs).I also have a broody silkie hen who has 2 eggs under her. One mixed breed egg and her own purebred silkie egg. Both of her eggs are developing so far. jumpy.gif

YAY, so glad your doing the Easter hatch!! Those are beautiful silkies, I can't imagine how pretty the SQ are!!! Good luck, hope you get some SQ silkies outta the hatch!!!

The question will be..."How will I decide WHAT is SQ and NOT SQ???" And then, What do I do with the "NOT SQ"? How will I be able to get rid of the "NOT SQ" chicks....they are all so cute!

I didnt hatch them but I received my 41 chicks yesterday at 10:45. The whole family is excited to watch them grow.
