Second Bator round is going fab! 90% growing!!! I do have a question tho, when I put them into lockdown, how fast do I need to be when taking the tray out and moving eggs to lay in the Bator? Or how do yall do it? Just wanna make sure I'm doing this all right.

just fast enough to get it done without breaking the eggs.

but its better to lay them in the tray instead of the bator...

if they are laying in the tray now just quit turning them and up the humidity.

I always candle one last time when going in lockdown, so it usually only takes me 20 minutes, depending on how many eggs you have, when hens are broody hatching they get up everyday for a little while to eat, it's never effected my hatches. Good luck!!! thumbsup.gif jumpy.gif

Happy Day hugs.giflove.giflove.gif I have been sooo tired from my construction projects that I haven't been on much! I have my Sportsman coming tomorrow and am sooooo very egggcited celebrate.gifwee.giflove.giflove.giflove.gif!!! I had a horrible shipment of chicklets die as well th.gif! I ordered two cream legbar pullets to go with the pair my sweet hubby got me for Valentines Day and then 4 lemon cuckoo orpingtons to go with my others and Richard Jordan generously sent 4 legbars with the lemons. They were to be overnighted but they did not come for several days because the Post Office just let them sit somewhere uncaringly for days. When they arrived most were dead th.gif! It was totally awful. Two died slowly after they arrived! It wasn't Mr. Jordans fault and I feel as bad as he does I'm sure. It was just awful! I have been building little grow out pens and have one totally completed and two almost done wee.gifcelebrate.gifcelebrate.gif!!! My girls are laying eggs for me now too bun.gifwee.gifcelebrate.giflove.giflove.gifhugs.gif I hope to be on more often now that most of the really hard work is almost done hugs.giflove.gifHappy Day All and Happy Hatching love.giflove.giflove.gif

So I had 4 of my mutts hatch yesterday!!  I hatched them for a friend of my mom's who now decided she isn't going to take them!!! he.gif

I used cartons this time to hatch and had read that the styrofoam ones were the best because the eggs won't stick... WELL I am SO UPSET ..... the one silkie egg I had in there pipped and had not progressed at all in 24 hours so I opened the bator took out the fluffy chicks and went to inspect the pipped egg well it was GLUED to the carton.... I have no idea what fluid seized up like glue but needless to say that egg did not hatch.... It is so sad as I can see the little beak through the hole hit.gifhit.gifhit.gif

I have lavender orpingtons going into lockdown tomorrow morning so hopefully one of those will hatch and cheer me up ya.gif
