I will be on/off BYC. If we owe you hatching eggs, please forward us the listing information. We are almost caught up on them and do not wish to miss anyone. Geese are now laying!

Remember, MG can be spread by wild birds. I have heard (could be wrong) that a huge percentage of backyard flocks have it and may not know it. So if you kill the whole flock and start over, it may just come back. =(  I take it you want to sell eggs and/or birds? If not, I'd consider the denagard and just have a closed flock. You have such nice birdies!

Thank you all. It was very hard to open the letter, and see the results. I just went limp and cried, and my mom held me. I had to go to work, and cried all the way to work. I have unplugged 3 incubators with eggs in them, some were due to hatch this weekend. hit.gif
I may cull all of the chicks day-old to 3 months old today, and try to sell any of the 5 months old to a year old on Craigslist as meat birds. I want them all gone by Saturday. hit.gif

But I am going to try again, and wait a bit longer this time. But KathyinMo is being very helpful, providing info about Denagard, and how it will make the bird clean of the disease. I am studying about it, and may try it, then have the birds tested again before culling. fl.gif

Definetly try Denagard. I would also allow the eggs to hatch. If Denagard will "cure" it, then try. Once you are clean, confine all poultyry to indoors and keeep all wild birds out withs creening etc.

Good luck!

Daron,

I am so sorry to hear of this, my thoughts go out to you.  I've heard some good things about Denagard.  Even though it's not approved here, it sounds to be something that might help.  You should look into it and decide for yourself, and ask around of people who have used it to hear their experience.

I have ordered the Denagard, so that will be the first step of the experiment of the curing the birds of the disease. If it works and my flock pass negative with flying colors, then yesss.gif, but if they failed the test, then I will begin the culling process and start again.

Now, normally I dislike any kind of meditations, drugs and chemicals, and I go with all natural stuff. But, for the lives of my new stock, I am willing to give them a chance after all the work and time (not to mention lots of money too) I have put into them to rebuild my farm.

I will update on the treatment process daily as soon Denagard comes in the mail, hopefully by Saturday.
