Orpington people - What color is this chick - Page 3

You cant put Self buff in the genetic calculator.  You will most likely not get any Dun but you will get black and blue with buff leakage and possibly some patterning.

There are too many breeds and varieties in the world to have them all... but its too hard just to choose a few.

Currently breeding Bantam Orpingtons, Anconas, White Faced Black Spanish, and RC Rhode Island Reds.  Also have Buff, Blue Swedish and Runner ducks along with Chinese Geese.

Thank you!  I cant wait to start breeding him to BBS hens this spring!  before I tried that I had to do a little research on type and what not and get some critique on here and turns out he came from show lines and has great personality.  I was going to show him this summer but missed out on anything local to take him to.  Will be prepared for next year.

What is too old to show in the chicken world anyway?  Show and breed?

Looks like a Splash and a Lav to me...but the heads are rather large to the body size. You should feel the keel and their backs and see if they are as stunted as the pics look (could be me) and perhaps look for signs of coccidiosis or parasites. I'm tired, so it could be me...

If it were me, I would only breed your Blue boy to Black hens.

His color is very pale and his lacing is almost nonexistent, breeding him to Black hens (with good type) should deepen the blue color and help to reestablish some lacing in their offspring.

EEEK!!!
So what am I looking for for coccidiosis???  How do I know if they are stunted... I wondered if they seemed sick ish but ive only been into chickens for 6 months or so, I don know exactly what to look for.... They are alway... just chill, I have a bad feeling about the two?? But thought maybe it was just me... When I got my Blue boy he was older so I didn't have much to go off of...what should I do
