Oregon Spring Poultry Swap May 5, 2012 in Canby!!!

What are the amazons ? variety

The old couple are orange wings -- sorta what you would call rescues as I have no idea of age etc., but they laid an egg last year even tho I haven't actually set them up for raising chicks.

The young-but-mature couple are gorgeous lilac-crowned that are long time bonded but never set up.

They are acclimated to garage, out-building etc just like a chicken and are were not raised as pets but to 'make' healthy pets.

For those that don't know, the Jardine's parrot is of the same family as a A. grey but brilliant kelly and lime green with bright, flashy orange on head, legs, etc. I know one is Java a girl and the other I don't know if it is Jasmine or a boy (can't remember what his name is right now - brain fart)

LOL

If I brought back another cockatiel, I'd be sleeping in the bird room. I have a female who's bonded with me (or the side of my head) but thinks my SO is her mate (will get that look and start to squat). I hand fed her for a month or so, which is probably why she has some identity issues. Another of her kind, male, would be a population explosion. hahaha.

I have two Cockatiels that I would like to re-home before the swap, if possible.

Male Gray Cockatiel about 3 yo?, I adopted him about a year and a half ago ~ Cuckoo is a Pretty Bird ~ whistles, talks, loves attention (talking to, not handling) and live jam sessions (he will make lots of happy sounds, which isn't always appreciated by all, but he has a lot of fun!). He prefers not to share really close quarters with other birds. He likes to have his space, and when he has that he seems to get along just fine with others. He has been housed with another cockatiel, and a pair of budgies and white doves. Cuckoo is a hand fed bird that has not been handled in awhile, but where he used to live he had free flight times and he always came back to his cage. He is very personable, and looking for a good home to take him in.

Male Lutino/White Cockatiel ~ Lilu ~ hatched spring 2011, not hand fed, and handled very little, bought as a companion for Cuckoo. Very pretty bird, hoped it was a she, but is now displaying his masculine voice and moves,, which would explain why Cuckoo hasn't bonded with him. Lilu likes to be talked to and comes up to the cage front to listen. He does not like to be handled, and we don't push him. Paid $65 for him, and if I could re-home him for $25 that would be awesome.

There is a Triple Roof Parakeet Cage by Prevue, Dimensions: 26" L x 14" D x 22 ½" wire spacing. Used gently approx. Best Offer ONLY AFTER Birds have been re-homed. I will use this cage to bring them to the swap if I still have them.

I know what ya mean, lol. I have a hand fed (not by me) female Red Bellied Parrot that I rescued from a pet store 5 1/2 years ago, and she thinks I'm her mate. When she gets horny I have to walk away. will do no good letting her think I can help with that situation, lol.

They can be so bad! We put her in her cage and leave the bird room if she starts giving anyone the look. But, she's resorted to using her toys and perches....which we keep rotating and replacing in hopes it'd throw her off.

We're limiting light, food, took out excessive paper/wood based chew toys, and am trying to figure out more foraging things for her to do during the day when we are not there! We think some of her behavior is due to boredom... she has tons of toys and free flight of a room when we are there, and the whole apartment if we are not cooking, but it's not enough!

The little booger is needy and refuses any attention from the three parakeets who also live in the bird room and often share free flight time. LOL \

She's a totally awesome pet. Need to teach her some new tricks but not sure what yet. Go through a hoop, spin, up, down, and fetch are already mastered pretty well. Flying fetch is hard because she tends to fly up and immediately drop the item she's fetching. Tried wave but she does not respond to pointing and will step up if possible. I can't imagine these little snots living in a cage all their lives with just a perch, swing, and food/water. They are just too canny for their own good.

Hi everyone!

I've been away for quite some time now. I doubt VERY seriously that I'll be able to make the swap as I'm due with our second on the 2nd of May. Not sure if she plans on being on time so it's not fair to say that I'll be there as a vendor. IF and it's a pretty big if, I can make it I MAY bring a few plants to sell as well as egg carrier/collectors that my husband has been making and possibly BCM hatching eggs. Just wanted to pop in and see how everyone was. Hope I can at least make it there to browse!

Well the swap isn't until May 5 that means ya got 3 days to recover. I just don't see the problem ! !

From the website (and already added to that list):

Carol Hansen (Chicks in Roseburg)

Want: pure breed Nankin Bantam chicks or fertile eggs, Blue Laced Red Wyandotte Bantam Rooster, or fertile eggs

Have: Bantam Diapers, Lime green print with bug pattern. Sized to fit standard Bantams, not small Nankin Bantams.

Do I need to reserve a space, or just get there early? I am bringing 3- 8 foot tables and canopies to put over. Will be ride sharing with another gal who will need a space (preferably next to me) also. Is there room somewhere close to park a 22 ft long trailer?
