Our eight pullets are six months old and they are all laying now except the two RIR's, I think. This morning I told my husband that they've given us a dozen eggs this week and it's only Wednesday! Woohoo!! He wanted to know if I had any plans for selling them. Bless his heart...I don't think he heard our grandchildren telling me how much they wanted "a whole box of eggs to take home." LOL

A lady in my area has a mixed flock and she gets brown, white, and green eggs and sells them for $2/dozen which I think is really low. Before my girls started laying, I tried to pay her $3, and we settled on $2.50. She said it was the first time she ever haggled with a customer who wanted to pay MORE. HAHA I have paid $3.50/doz for fresh eggs. I don't think $2.50 is too much.

I sell eggs for $4 a dozen here and I have people wanting to give me more. I guess fresh eggs are just that GOOD wink

I hear ya right... hahah... ive got 5 hens laying out of 24.. ahhhh...  this is my first year and most of their first year as well . I have 6 year old hens I bought becasue they were laying.. got them home.. not a darn egg from any of them and its been 2 months..  of couse ow is the molt and short days.. I sure hope they start back up I have lots of people I could sell a doz for $2,00, if I had eggs..

ya know party season is coming up and everyone loves deviled eggs. great dish to take to parties and such..

I'm enjoying this thread very much.  I have 3 layers who are very consistently laying an egg each every day.  I've been sharing mine with neighbors for free to build good will.  My girls are very noisy D- when they're unhappy:barnie and when they're happy.celebrate  The only time they're not talking is when they are free ranging in the yard or when they have gone to bed th

1 very funny and tolerant husband, 2 boys (23 and 13), one beautiful tabby long haired kitten (our 18 year old cat died), 2 beautiful rescue dogs, 5 zebra finches, 1 guinea pig, 1 rhode island red, 1 new hampshire red,  1 red ameracauna and 1 old english bantam.

we were just in your area  last week.  I was surprised I didnt see more chickens int he rural area's but with storms its got to be rough on you, how do you protect them from the bad storms and surges?  You've got a tough job.. and feed , do you have to have it brought in or do you feed something from the local area?
hope im not to nosy but I find it very interesting that you live in the Bahamas, with chickens.. seams like it would be a lucrative business.

Cage free fresh eggs can easily get $4 a dozen in VT...but I dont sell them, I just eat them, give them to my dogs or give them away. 

Right now, I'm only averaging 1 egg a day as nobody wants to lay so I may have to actually buy eggs at some point soon.

I sell mine for $2.00 a doz. but I do have one customer who insists on giving me $3.  I just doubled my flock, I needed more eggs.  I could double it again and still sell more.  My nephews will no longer eat "store" eggs.  Wish I had the "overloaded" problem.smile

Mom to 3 cats, 2 dogs (oops make that 5, just had 3 puppies born this week, 4 goats, 8 guineas, and  50+ chickens.

The spinach really improves it...makes the texture more satisfying. Sometimes I'll fold in some diced ham as well.

My girls are Black Copper Marans and usually lay dark brown eggs but every so often they lay a speckled one that some people like. Now if I could only get them to lay them with a smiley face.smile

Count your chickens before they hatch and put all yours eggs in one basket...scary but not fatal
