Does anyone know how to adjust the humidity and tell how high it is without a hydrometer?

Like you, I am extremely frustrated with the settings. I'm sure there's no need to have anywhere near as many settings. I need someone to tell me the settings they used when they were successful with their bater. I downloaded some info from the net. This is what it says:

Symbol Instruction Setting Range Factory Set Unit

HU Heating power parameter 1-90 18
HD Heat preservation power parameter 1-80 11
LS Setting lower limit -9.9-HS 30 C*
HS Setting Upper limit LS-99.9 39.5 C*
CA Temperature Correction -5~+5 0 C*
AS Humidity Alarm 1-99 45 %
AH Ultrahigh temperature alarm output 0-15 1 C*
AL Ultralow temperature alarm output 0-15 1 C*

The person before that had 20 out of 21 hatch, could you please tell me what your settings were?

Hi KHoward

Do you mind if I ask you for the exact settings for your bater, as I have failed twice now. You said you got 20 out of 21, have you had any more success since?

Cheers

Can someone help :(

Me and my nan are hatching eggs for the first time with this incubator with 6 eggs.
Ive researched that duck eggs should sit in an incubator with the small pointed part down so that the aircell forms at the top?
However, the Janoel incubator doesnt allow for this to happen? They lie sideways in an automatic roatating incubator..
Therefore the aircells seem to appear sideways, looks as those the embryo's are on one side..
Is this healthy or normal?
Because im confused as if this is going to effect their hatching? As the aircell is not at the bottom large end of the egg like most peoples :(

Thanks for anyone's time.

please help...FIRST Hatch and first time with ANY incubater...I am SO LOST how to set this thing ! WHY does the work light begin to flash now & then and stay flashing? Then will stop for a bit and begin again? How do ya know when its moved the eggs-I hear nothing! The booklet of instructions is useless to me-what is the lettering for the temp and what is for the humidity so I can get it set before I lose all my eggs ????
It's just heating--adjusting the temp when the work light is on. You should have n old fashioned mercury thermometer you leave in there for a few days while you find the correct setting on the temperature. Mine sits at 37.3, but others have found theirs need to be higher. Press the set buttona and go up or down on the arrows to change the temp.

After you have watched it for a day or so and you are sure it's at the right temp you are ready to go.

The turner automatically moves. Look at the position and then come back 6 hours later and you will see it is at a different position. I have outlined the way to change humidity over on the thread started here last year https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/951784/janoel-incubation-experience

I have found that the humidity is much higher than the hygrometer reads. I put in 1 cup of water at the day 2 and 10 mark in ONE channel and fill only ONE channel to the top for lockdown, otherwise chicks drown. Check out the link for more.

Thanks for anyone's time.
You may have to hand turn your eggs and avoid the turner UNLESS you have the duck egg turner (you can buy it on ebay)

Remember that eggs sit on their sides during their time under Mamma, so if you lay them on their side and turn them a quarter turn in the morning and night, you should be fine, HOWEVER, make sure your hands are very clean.

Yep, that's nuts.

I set my humidity alarm for 0 so it would leave me alone. I left the heat variation alone and set my temp based on my above suggestions to sizzlmom.

Remember less is more. Leave them alone. Candle at day 7 and open up again and candle at day 18 when you lockdown. Do NOT put a lot of water in as the hygrometer is WAY off. Avoid touching them and opening the bator which will cause fluctuations in temp.

Our ducks are doing great so far!!! However, we are KNACKERED!
The humidity is unconsistent e.g we put it at about 53% when we go to bed and have to get up and check it about 2 times throughout the night because sometimes it drops all the way to 20%!
With a janoel incubator.. When we put about 3 drops of water into it, the humidity goes sky high and it's getting unbearable!
Can anyone help? How to stabilise the humidity?

I have two of them. The only way I know any thing about them is I bought me a good thermometer iand humidistat Set by it only. They thermometers is the ones with the Mercury in them they are the most accurate ones I complain so much with the company that they actually sent me a new one that still in the now. I have electrician to look at it and he couldn't even set it said it in fact he said it was nothing but a piece of junk. I lost several dollars worth of eggs that I had bought off of egg bake and from a friend of mine that has Silkies. I was told that we didn't take the time to follow simple instructions. Hope this has been some help
