Weird rumbling, vibrating sound at night- anyone else dealing with it?

I thought I was literally losing my mind until I stumbled across someone else who is going through the same thing. There's a noise at night, its such a low frequency you can hardly hear it some nights, and it causes our bodies to feel like they're vibrating inside like a tuning fork. Its causing horrible panic attacks- numbness, nausea, shaking, terrors... its absolutely awful. We've been tested for MS, had MRi's and CAT scans, gone by squad thinking we're having strokes and/or heart attacks. I've followed it some 20+ miles one night when it was particularly loud, my dad was able to hear it and feel it. It actually shook the car when I stopped.

The stress is causes our bodies is exhausting- anyone who has stress or anxiety disorders would understand the physical toll of a single panic attack- let alone nightly ones, or ones that literally last for days at a time. We've been sleepless for days on end with this thing. Its just horrible.

We have no idea what it is. Its almost like a jet plane in the distance, or a freight train far far off- it rumbles and cycles. wooooomwooooomwoooooomwooooom. it is absolutely horrible. There's videos that we found online of similar noises- i guess there was one during an oreols game in florida, and other states too. Its been on the news in other areas, but they dont know what it is. Iam thinking maybe there's a wind farm some place that just opened or something. Its only been going on since august.

Anyone else? Anyone?

I hear a noise like that here in my house when I am in the computer room. We live near a rock quarry and I have wondered it is something they are running. It doesn't cause me any stress. I just wonder what it is. And my husband does not hear it!

My dad thought it was quarry- thats where we drove, the nearest quarry. But it wasn't running. It's one of those open pit quarries- not underground. It is so horrible. We can't hear it during the day, once or twice we've heard it as late as 10am, but it otherwise at night, between 11pm and 5am.

train tracks and/or dumpsters being emptied nearby? You'd be amazed how late some people clean out dumpsters. I hear that all night.

Nope Avalon, its not trash trucks and dumpsters. I've followed the noise, its far away- not local.

Smileycat i am really wondering if its a wind turbine. I've read where in the UK its causing some serious health issues related to stress and anxiety in people. But I dont know where there would be any around here. I've googled it- the sound comes from the north east, more easterly than notherly- which suggests east of bennington vermont, or maybe some place around manchester. Manchester talked a few years ago about a wind farm, but I can't find where they've put one in. I can't find any of them around here. I know there's some in the berkshires, but thats pretty far south of me. It seems we can feel and hear these sounds as far as saratoga springs some nights. So thats a hell a lot of distance... thats about 50 miles from as far as I chased the sound. What can do that? Can turbines do that? AND cause the houses to vibrate, and the cars? I mean, if i have a door in the house ajar it'll swing back and force slightly on its hinges from it. And we have cracks in our walls and ceilings that have only just developed since this started in August.

Also- its ONLY at night! Why would turbines work only at night? Or maybe its just that the day is too noisy? BUt I dont' feel the vibrations during the day...

duramaxgirl- it is SO awful. You can't even imagine. Had I not found this neighbor/friend who also is suffering through it I literally would have gone to get my head shrinked. I haven't encountered other people who hear it. Its kinda a scary thing to ask people if they hear noises that only you hear, you know? I dont want people to think iam crazy...
