Darkling beetles are convulsing what is wrong?

I have a meal worm farm that was doing really well until today. Something is wrong with the beetles, alot of them if not all are on their backs convulsing/twitching and the ones that are walking around are really slow/twitchy. I might have thought it was pesticide related because we just put new food in but the apple came from our tree and the carrots were those prewashed baby carrots you get from the store. Our worm farm is outside, so maybe it got too cold? I dont know, what do you guys think?

Cold just makes insects slow unless it's pretty far below freezing which can kill them  if they can't get to a sheltered overwintering spot.

Convulsing probably means insecticide exposure.  I couldn't guess from what though.

I used to work in an auto parts factory, which is the reason for my handle.  Chickens aren't as heavy, but they're much more entertaining than auto parts!!
