We have had chickens since August of 2002. I had to check back threw my calendars to find the date. My husband mentioned we were getting chickens and I told him I didn't want any chickens and I wasn't going to take care of them. Well it was love at first sight. We started out with six silkies. Everytime we would look at the mcmurray catalogs we would want a new breed. We went to the feed stores in the spring and we never walked out without chicks. Right now we have 20 chickens and 4 ducks. Last summer we started the no hatch rule because we are getting older and want to kind of dwindle down on the flock. It was hard not going to go to the feed stores to see all the new chicks. We did hatch 3 last summer. We couldn't resist. The mother hen was persistent and we kind of overlooked the eggs she was sitting on.
