Golden Laced Cochin Roo? - Page 3

eh, I would just bring them eggs and say "complements of my girls" and leave it at that. That way it doesn't get them thinking about wether or not the chickens actually DO bother them.

I even got my neighbor behind me interested in keeping chickens now.

We are allowed roosters in our village. I let all the kids come visit/play with the chickens, and ask them if their parents mind. Everyone loves them as far as I know. One of the little girls who visits often, brought her mother over to see them. The mother said she LIKES the sound of the rooster. smile My other neighbour can be found out sitting with her favourite silkie in hand when we aren't even out there, and my other neighbour's dog almost killed my cat.. so I don't care what they think... and the old folks home.. Well.. they were all probably raised/worked/knew someone on a farm. They like to watch my chickens.. I guess I'm just lucky.

Even had neighbours offer to buy eggs... But first my chickens need to get off their fluffy butts and get to work! smack

LES Farms

Breeder of nothing right now.Read our RE-Build of LES Farms Thread.

Lost everything in a barn fire 2/11/13. Can't even pull it together.

Thank you for all the condolences and all the support and donations given to help us rebuild. You are all so special to us.

Please READ my thread about FIRE SAFETY. Trying to save as many others from the little mistakes that cost me everything.

And it varies by location, and the individual officer but for me, if you are allowed three, and you have a couple of extra, I wouldn't give you any grief as long as everything else was imaculate. If you are bowing to the rule of an HOA however, that may be a different story.

Thanks for the info. The coop is situated so the run faces our house and the neighbors would have a very hard time seeing in. Animal control would have to be in one of our three neighbor's yards to see the structure at all. We fashioned it after Heather Bullard's coop to look nice. We clean it weekly and spread DE to keep moisture down. I just don't want my anxiety to ruin the fun of the chickens! As you can tell from imagining the crowing, I am probably the one who needs to just chill out! tongue

That is wonderful! We hope to move to the country some day and have more chickens. I love the names of yours, by the way! McDonald's haha!

ha ha yeah, you will be fine. lol Sounds like you have a beautiful coop though! If I were you, I would choose the three you would keep, but keep the other two as well...maybe have homes lined up for them just in case. If animal control ever says anything to you, comply immediately...usually we give our citizens a chance before we go writing tickets (writing tickets means I have to drive up to the court house early in the morning, sit there for three hours, and hope the person I wrote a ticket to showes up, and doesn't waste my time, and as I work evenings, this is highly inconvenient...but if they don't show, it is a criminal citation that goes to warrant).

Not to say that your city wouldn't handle things differently (so don't take my advice just because I am an ACO, do your homework, and make sure), but I work for a large city, and in all honesty, we have a LOT more important things to worry about than how many chickens you have in your yard roll ...especially when we are talking about such small numbers as what you have tongue

Thank you! You are so encouraging smile Our town is not that large, but we do have many more important things to deal with than chickens! smile I would comply immediately, we have a winery that has a farm and we have taken 10 ducks out there before when they hatched in my aunt's backyard (and took over her pool), they sell chickens and I am sure they would be more than happy with some free ones!
