CG, your babies will be hatching right after my goosies then!  How are your two pekin eggs doing????

My menagerie includes 5 horses, 3 dogs, 4 cats, 33 geese (dewlap toulouse & african) and 11 ducks (muscovy, ancona, cayuga & silver appleyard).

i keep meaning to get some catfish pellets for the ducks. i hear they like them since they float.



 

 

its a zoo here:

12 call duck....2 geese -1 female saddleback pom. ....1american buff.

10 peafowl chicks <3

2 bantam cochins....

5 silkie hens and 4 splash juvis....

6 goats.....2 ponies....3beef cows.

an african grey parrot....2 fish tanks...

6hermit crabs... 3 betas... a turtle

and some guineas (all ages)

By the way..... my guys' voices are starting to change (which is funny to listen to), but they are only 12 days old.  When do yours change? And is it safe to assume that since Twist is so loud and peeps the most, that she is a girl?

CG, the recommended treat list says koi food, but that is not so different from cichlid food.  And yes, they LOVED it!

It's day 25.  !!!  I'm excited!!!  I have 2 internally pipped (almost) and 2 that just have a ready air cell. (it swooped low)

I usually can tell the voices around 3 weeks of age. I know some you can tell sooner and some are later, but I know the girls first because of that honk sound they make.

Let me give you a visual.  It's a 2 acre pond.  With an island in the middle.  It's Bad A$%. And gorgeous.  But not covered in duckweed.  The entire pond was green. We tried sain-ing (sp) it.  We tried a chemical that's not a poison.  The only thing left was to use herbacides, but we didn't want to do that.
