YaY Utah! Talk with you later tonight.

Marty, we are picking up a lavender gander, a blue splash gander, and a saddleback goose on March 15 along with a bucket load of eggs to set and hatch for new bloodlines here.

Colors are a waiting game to see what we get. We should have lilac, buff, grey for sure with a strong likely hood of lavender and splash too with this new gander.

Love how your kids describe them. They are fun to watch walk around with the flowing feathers trailing behind them.

Will start sharing pictures of goslings soon, eggs were set 2/8 and 2/11 and then constantly there after.

I wet mine down for the first day then add another bowl of dry the second day so they have both.  Just what I do.  Everybody's different.

I just had to separate new chickens from old chickens.  The new ones are picking on the old ones.  I wonder if they're known for that.  Maybe that's why all their feathers are missing...

I must google.

Here's a pic of my young Swedish ducks. They're about 4 months old now. Not a good pic as they are in the shade..

The blue boy's bib is patchy round the edges but that's life :) He has filled out quite well and has very little white on his head (just a tad under the chin). In the third pic you can see that he is very nicely laced. Despite the bib I kept him as he is a nice rich blue, is well laced, is fairly big and because of the minimal white on his head. His bill could be more evenly coloured - it has some black patches.

The black girl has a very chunky body - maybe even a bit much so. But I like her flat back and deep chest. She has two white flights in each wing - woo hoo!. Evelle, you mentioned that one of yours has uneven numbers of white flights. I know that that is very common. My blue boy has two in one wing and four in the other. The breeder I got some of my birds from gets it more often than not in her ducks too. Not a major problem...seems to be inherited in a really random way and its the luck of the draw if you get one with only two on each wing.

Here he is about a month ago. This pic gives a better idea of his head shape and overall size. He is looking a bit scruffy as he had just had a fight with his Dad (boys.....!!!).

All 9 of my silkie chickens, oops I mean silkie ducks, are doing great.  The 2 that  I was concerned about don't even act like they were weak.  They are climbing all over the place and the little white one even tried to fly off of the stuffed animal.  I need to move them out of the container they are in though and give them more room to play.  So Jeff is going to get me a trap and we are going to put it down in the tub and I will put some sawdust down for them.  They have been eating and drinking with no problems too.  I crushed up some of the dried worms that I feed the ducks and those little things loved them.  I keep telling Jeff that they are silkie ducks and he says yeah what about when they go bawk bawk.  And I just told him if you can train a parrot to cuss, I can train a duck to bawk bawk.  He just laughs at me.  I told him I am probably keeping MOST of them.  He just says huh huh.   lau.gif
