He's doing good. He's hanging out with the silkies now. Dwayne was really nice. It took all my willpower not to ask him to please sell me one of his pretty silkie girls too, lol. You hatched some really cute chicks QJ.

Yay! Are you getting the ducks from the lady you got the eggs from?

I went to orschelns today. I am so proud of myself, I stocked up on feed so no reason to go back for another month, and brought home no new chicks.

Hey Julie, glad to see your new roo is settling in nicely!

OK guys...I'm having some trouble naming my favorite ancona from the 2nd set.  I'm 90%+ sure it is a boy. He is sweet, playful and likes to cuddle.  He is also goofy looking at the moment, like he hasn't grown into his big feet yet, and has the coolest green rim on his beak (but not sure it will stay that way).  Since I named my first ancona boy Hershey, I was thinking Nestle or Willy Wonka... but I'd sure love some ideas from you guys since you come up with great names (Marty, the name Eva stuck.  Yay!).  I am guessing he will be either blue or lavender.

Here he is:

My menagerie includes 5 horses, 3 dogs, 4 cats, 32 geese (dewlap toulouse & african) and 10 ducks (muscovy, ancona, cayuga & silver appleyard).

Cadbury? Sorry, love those eggs and am craving one right now, lol. Or Fudge, charleston chew, clark bar, reese's, goobers, kitkat, mars bar, marshmallow, mocha, mr. goodbar, oh henry, rolo(my second fave), toffee, turtle, or york.

I was contemplating rolo and goobers... had not thought of cadbury before, though.  That's a fun name too!

Little Sebbie died early this morning.  :(  We're sad.  But also thankful that we have one that made it out all by itself, healthy and strong.

I'm not a vet, but I really think it got fluid in it's lungs.  It never peeped like normal.  It's breathing was like it was gasping. And it took a breathe every 4 seconds.  It only opened it's eye normally one time.  The rest of the time it was the white of the eyes.  Like they were rolled down.

I've never helped a goose, obviously, but I've never seen this much fluid in a duck and my instinct was telling me it's not normal.

So my Flippy chick was on its back, about as far away from the heat lamp as possible this morning when I got up. I warmed the little guy in my hands for a while and he slowly came back to being himself. He's in a tupperware in the borrder now so he can't get stuck in the far corner again. Gotta keep the little guy warm. We've also been feeding him a bit of chick saver from an eyedropper, so he's good and alert, but he's still not able to walk. On close inspection, it seems one of his legs joints looks like it got pecked by another chick.

The other chick is doing really well.

That's the news from here. I'll be popping in and out since I have to go out and give Flippy his chick saver every couple hours.

Julie:  Awesome on the roo.  That one came from EMVickrey, and a few of the others were luckypickens.  He's a nice guy.

CG:  Still working on names.  I think goose is a girl.  I get that girl vibe from her.  That sounds dumb, but I'm usually right with that.  LMBO.   She likes to sit in my lap.  I wuv her.
