Thanks everybody.....the vet just left.  He couldn't suture the area, of course, but it's cut really, really deep.  Bad thing is my horse did this 3 months ago in the same spot and I had finally got it healed up, but I didn't have the bleeding issue.  Vet wrapped it tight, tight, tight...there was a vessel spurting blood once he got it cleaned up.  Vet says he got down into the cartiladge and coronary band, and will probably develop arthritis in a couple of years.  He's only 5 this spring!  He took down the whole bottom rung of barbed wire, and there is a blood trail on it a good 15 feet long on it so he was hung up good. 

I'm just very, very depressed.  I hand raised this horse from the age of 6 weeks old, he was an orphan that almost died. 

OK, down to 1 duckling!! Their all quiters except the one thats in there now.  And get this.... ALL boys!! What the heck! I'm not getting more eggs from her I don't think.

Just tossed all 13 of my local Cayuga eggs.  Not one fertile in the bunch.  I am destined to be Cayuga-less. 

There seem to be a lot of problems with cayuga hatching. I wonder if they have fertility issues or something? 

Maybe you should get some of chicksohmy's BEI and have mini cayugas? You could probably advertise them as "teacup" cayugas and make a fortune. 

My goslings are starting to honk! I was outside in the garden and I heard a honk. I looked up expecting to see canada geese flying but nothing. Then I heard it again so I looked over at Elvis and he honked at me. Sounds kind of goofy, he hasn't quite got it right yet.

DG:  Get a new hygrometer and I bet that fixes the problem.

But if I could do it.. I would have looked into that one I just lost, that HAD to be from your drake.  The egg was on the older side so I'm going to go with that.  

if you ever have something not just a horse bleeding like this place ICE packs on it keeping it COLD it will slow the flow of blood and can help you stop it.   this has worked for me with dog, cat, turkey and boyfriend

I have 3 of their eggs in tha bator and havent seen any veins yet. Just added 5 more of their eggs guess we'll see how it goes.

I'm having the same problem with my ducks.  I've thrown out 22 eggs so far.  (eye roll)  Hopefully, drakey will "hit the mark" soon!

Hello can somebody PLEASE catch me up?  I have been trying to get  my stupid phone to spit out my pictures still.  But I am working on it, 

I had my EE's hatch yesterday.  I had 7 hatch but one died.  I have 4 of them out of the incubator and out with the other chickens and ducks on the front porch.  Two of them are not sitting or walking yet.  WHAT DO I DO FOR THEM?  Shouldn't they be up and about by now?

My sebbie has internally pipped and I am just waiting to see the beak push through the shell.  I can not wait to see it.

That is so kool.  You guys will really like 4H.  I have been a leader for almost 8 years now and have enjoyed so much watching the girls go from little girls to grown up teenagers and young women.  I love them all as though they were my own.  Of course your ducks will be shown, Right????
 

We're just starting 4H too!  Both ruth (12) and Julia (6) love love poultry too, so why not?  We ain't gettin' no cows though.  Or pigs.  (maybe a nice milk goat would be good.....)
 

What are those tiny milkgoats named?  Not the LaManchas (we love those too) but the pygmy or something.....  Anyone know?

You guys and your horses are reminding me of a story. (imagine that.)  

My aunt had Tennessee Walkers when I was a kid.  And one day she saw her son (my cousin) come inside kinda acting weird.. and walk back out with the gun.  So she of course said.. "Woah.. what's going on?"  Well, her horse had gotten up in his feed trough and fallen over onto a fence post and was basically shish-ka-bobbed on it.  Still alive.  My cousin and Uncle had gone out and found it and were going to "take care of it" and THEN tell her.  They didn't want her to see her horse that way.  

But when she found out what was going on, she ran out there and MADE them call the vet.  Well, the vet of course said.. there is absolutely nothing I can do for this horse.  It was obviously in a lot of pain and he suggested they put her down.  (duh).  

My aunt is still traumatized by seeing that.  He was an AMAZING horse.  

Oh, and if you want a REALLY nice milk goat, get a Nubian! We have 2 does, and a buck.  Both does are WONDERFUL milkers.  Very calm, sweet goats too!
 

Purple eggs, = dead babies right?? Cause i have 2 purple eggs.

Couple of things.. 

1.  Someone please talk me out of ordering a pizza for dinner.

2.  Those who breed their ducks.. I need suggestions for separating mine.  How do you manage pool time?

Well, they are purple ALL over, I couldn't resist (I'm sorry, beat me up, i deserve it!) So i candled them, and they moved around like a dead body, smelled horrid, were purple ALL over, never interally pipped, and when i candled them, the shell in the air sac was yellow.  These 2 also stopped moving around in the egg 2 days before lockdown.  So i'm asuming they are gonners??  They smell horrid!!! EKK!

I'm pretty sure they are too.... so far this is a sucky hatch :(

No, not her fault at all.  Never acused her.  But it was her drake that threw all boys.  I might still get them, not sure.  Maybe it was ment to be, and I'm awesome at hatching drakes.  I didn't say i wasn't gonna get anymore cause it was her fault, I just screwed up pretty bad .  I just can't do another hatch I don't think.

I told her that I was happy with her eggs, and some other nice stuff about her eggs, and ducks.  I haven't told her yet that her ducks threw all boys.
