You are far braver than me. hide.gif  There is no way I could do it.  I wish they had some quick way.  When I fed my snakes at college, I had to put the pinky (baby) mice into the freezor, that was the offical way there, and I felt like a murderer.  I would rather have just put them in live, and let nature be what it is.  I have a personal thing about harming living things.  (even spiders)

Why don't sheep shrink in the rain?

Why is there brail at drive up ATMs??

Why are their floatation devices instead of parachutes in my airplain seat???

If a tree falls in the woods and my husband doesn't hear it, am I still wrong????

I cried before I had to do it and then after. But it had to be done. Luckily the farm has toughened me up a bit. A few years ago, I would have never gone through with it.

You still feel awful no matter what. It's not fun losing a baby animal. hugs.gif

He sounds peaceful. If he was in obvious distress, I'd go ahead and cull. Let nature take its course.

(On this depressing note, I have to go cull some muscovy drakes tomorrow who are humping the farm chickens)

Helen: Daria, do you have to look at everything in such a negative light?

Make a decision that it doesn't, and just rub his fuzz, and tell him how sweet he is.  Tuck a nice cosy towel around him, and let him sleep, DG.

DG, I am really sorry this is happening to you.

Over at my end, I am trying to not think about the one African I lost and focus on saving the four that are still going. I almost have their heads free. I hate trying to work in this spot the most because they are smashed up against shell and I am so worried about making them bleed. So far so good though and they are all so sweet trying to help me when I work on them. They want their heads freed really bad.
My menagerie includes 5 horses, 3 dogs, 4 cats, 32 geese (dewlap toulouse & african) and 10 ducks (muscovy, ancona, cayuga & silver appleyard).
