the other hen still looks healthy (after sitton 2 rounds)

they are waited on hand and foot.

i may just not worry about it im on spring break so i will be home . i guess i can just check on her every couple of hours.

im also starting to think a hen due this weekend flaked out on me. s

he is running around with the flock, she usualy just stays close to the barn.

ill check her nest in an hour. and if she is still off the eggs are coming inside.

I'd take the eggs out before lockdown then. If she hears them pipping then gets no chicks she might not keep setting.

I keep several dog crates on hand...the big ones...and I'll put a broody in one of them with food and water in it so she doesn't have to go far when she gets up for a break.  I also don't have to worry about babies wondering away or other birds getting them.  Makes it easy if you are wanting to grab them for lockdown, and switch eggs out.

I'll dig it up again.

Or you can wait six months and hopefully I'll have eggs from Aurora Springs/Thistle Down breeding pairs to swap! big_smile.png

I know. I saw 2 good reviews and couldn't find the silvers anywhere else.  Their website looked professional.  But.. whatevs.    roll.png

What's the deal with these ducklings lately?  Everybody's coming out backwards or not coming out at all!

Once they are setting good, as long as you give them their eggs back, they are fine.  I found a bantam hen setting eggs in the round bale I have out for the goats.  I just took the crate out to her, put the eggs in it, then her, and carried her to the coop.  She was already pulling eggs up under her before I set the crate down.  I've moved broodies many, many times....silly things will start a nest in the wierdest places!

ETA:  I've done it with geese, too.
