Oh, you should see Lucky, he is growing so fast, he makes regular pekings look slow!  th.gifAt first, he and the chicks (who are older) were the same size.  The next day, he was noticably larger.  Last night DH kinda freaked out when he saw how huge he was allready.  He's seen some baby ducks now, but Luckys takes the cake.  He is huge.  (I've send a mail (via ebay) to the guy I got him from, begging more eggs - ebaying some more button quail eggs too)

The poor unfortunate baby button that DD dropped continues to eat, drink, and sleep, but the legs are stiff and stuck out behind him all the time.  He can't even make himself set upright.  He has a nest in a clear box, designed to keep him in a "normal" position.  I'm thinking head/neck/spine trauma, but I think if he's still alive tomarrow, I'm gonna try electrolytes.  If he can just keep eating  and drinking, he may still come out of it, but I'm getting less optimistic.

Is Lucky from the British line of pekins? I hear they get to the size of a labrador retreiver! lau.gif

Seems like my pekinlings are growing faster this year than last. Last year I brooded 8 runners and a pekin in the bathtub. But this year the three pekinglings look like they're going to outgrow their home anytime.

Quckers, what day are your goose eggs on?? I know you will want to keep them!!

The lady I got my Cayuga eggs from has a giant pekin drake with regular pekin ducks. She says the babies are huge. If you want fresh stock, I highly recommend her!
My menagerie includes 5 horses, 3 dogs, 4 cats, 33 geese (dewlap toulouse & african) and 11 ducks (muscovy, ancona, cayuga & silver appleyard).

I had a quail that I helped that ended up just like that a few days later. It didn't make it. hmm.png

Day 19. They were hard to see into at first, but they're getting harder to see in now. I just have to stand still and wait for motion.

I lost one a few hours after getting them (they fell pretty far and it had a big bruise on it's chest). Pocket is doing great though (thanks gq). They were covered in fleas when they came, and she has quite a few bite marks still but she got a bath the night she came and they've stayed gone. She's growing quick, her furs getting thicker on her head already. She reminds me of a sharpei puppy, all wrinkly and roly poly lol.

I'm so excited. I've got a large quantity of ducklings hatching on or about the same time, so next week is slated to be utter chaos over here. All of the ducklings (except the Silkie that hubby doesn't know about so he can't presell it) are going to new homes pretty quick though.

 sounds like our small town

They are pretty girls.

Hi all frow.gif

The poor little quail the little DD dropped is still unable to walk, but he lingers on.  I offer him water and food, which he is taking, but no improvement on the mobility scene.  I feel so bad for him, becasue he is fighting so hard.  I don't have the heart to terminate his life, such as it is, and its so terrable to watch him, and know Julie is gonna come home from kindergarden, and ask about him.  My kids go to catholic school, and I heard her praying for him in prayors this morning.  sad.png  What on earth do I do?  I'm sure she's learned her lesson, but the poor thing still ives.  HAS ANYONE EVER HAD A BABY RECOVER FROM A DROP THAT MADE HIS LEGS USELESS??  is there a speck of hope I may cling to here?  Im so blue about this.

I've got turkeys, silkies, phesants, and geese going on lockdown this week.  My hope and plan initially was the geese would siimply hatch themselves like they ought to, but it seems like almost everyone has trouble with them.  Heres hoping for a good easy hatch for me and you all this week.  fl.gif
