Scotch is looking good, despite his tape incident, lol.  Is that a full length cattle panel?  I have thought of hoop houses for growing out ducklings.

So today I've lost a sebbie  a silky, and a button quail.  Two were freak accidents.  he.gif

Oh no sorry, Marty sad.png

On the D'Anvers it's just the males. The females are absolutely the sweetest things you will ever find. You do have to handle them to make them that tame, but trust me once they are tame they stay tame. I had a little mille fleur D'Anver hen that loved to come up to the fence for her chest rub.  she will be sadly missed.

The roos, well I don't think there is much you can do to prevent them from getting mean. They are just fiesty little things. The good thing is they are so small that they don't inflict much damage, but I hated watching my back all the time because here they come puffed up ready to flog you. They loved to chase the 3 year old nephew.

How long should it take for Polyvisol to cure wry neck?  I've been giving it for 4 or 5 days and don't see any improvement.  I'm wondering if I'm not getting enough down him.

use to be the worst dog ever!

chased birds and you coultnd stop them.

now he just follows along behind them always hopeful that one will let him get close to it. (as of yet, none have)

or chooses to be the brooder babysitter.

and comes to tell me everytime someone is peeping.

love.gif Pretty blue eyes. I'm actually not a cocker fan, but I've seen a few that are just wonderful dogs.

Jaz, if we hatch/acquire another cayuga, we will name it blackstrap, since I give my horses blackstrap molasses as a natural electrolyte when needed.

My menagerie includes 5 horses, 3 dogs, 4 cats, 32 geese (dewlap toulouse & african) and 10 ducks (muscovy, ancona, cayuga & silver appleyard).

QJ, maybe I'll be brave enough to try more duck eggs in a few months.  I appreciate it!  Hopefully I will have ancona and cayuga eggs in six months to offer in return.  Hubby was saying that he prefers the goslings, but is curious to see if the apple and possible saxony are really that much calmer/friendlier than the other breeds.  Certainly our cayugas are way less skittish than our anconas.

My little Molasses is absolutely my favorite duckling to date.  Since he has no hatchlings to link up with, all he wants to do is snuggle in my hair.  He has a big set of pipes and uses them to let me know when he is awake... then (already surprisingly strong and balanced at 12 hours) he will jump off the ground to try to get to me from his post-hatching pen.  I love this little one!
