Chicken, I do see a difference between the two Ancona stocks, as thistle down is not as runner like in build or skittish. Then again, they are still young, so not sure how they will make the transition into juvenile phase yet. But the cayugas are overall more calm than either.

QJ, my Africans still want to be pet and stick close to me. My Toulouse want to crawl into my lap and snuggle and can really be pet like a puppy.

But of all the birds I have hatched so far, no one is as sweet and cuddly as molasses. I am sure it is only because he is alone, but it melts my heart all the same that he cries for me to hold him.
My menagerie includes 5 horses, 3 dogs, 4 cats, 32 geese (dewlap toulouse & african) and 10 ducks (muscovy, ancona, cayuga & silver appleyard).

Todays Goose (mine):

Hubby's gosling immediately pooped on the table. Typical.

After my goosie hatched, I did a minimal eggtopsy on what was left. What I found was a bunch of fluidy eggs. All dead. The runner eggs were starting to get ripe and must have died right around lockdown, give or take a day. I didn't go any further than to assess that they were indeed dead before throwing them out.

Cleaning hatcher now so I can lock down another batch tomorrow night. They are scheduled for LD on Saturday, but I think 8 hours give or take won't kill them.

OMG...I miss hatching goslings!  Too cute!

I hope the one girl isn't ticked that I gave her ducks to someone else, but I've been emailing daily since Sunday with no response. he.gif

Silver bibbed? Silver as in 'splash'. Look at those cute cheeks.

Molasses is a cutie-pie, Quackrrs, and I too vote for Bootstrap or Blackstrap as a name for a li'l future buddy.

QJ - Game of Thrones is a series of books too. There are 5 (but the series hasn't ended yet). They are pretty good. Some top characters, and the whole story is pretty coherent, unlike a lot of series that seem to wander off into the wilderness after a while. So, I recommend the books. Don't get too attached to any characters though - the author has no qualms about killing just about anybody off at the drop of a hat.

I'm in the middle of polishing my car. Easy, you might think. No. I bought four different paint cleaning and conditioning products to use, one after the other (my car is about 22 years old so it needs a bit of make-up now and then). I'm done with two products, and two to go. My arm is about to freakin' drop off. So I am having little break.

Since it's autumn here all the ducks are getting kind of cranky. I think they feel the ancestral urge to migrate, but don't quite know what to do about it. The drakes are getting along very well but the girls are really bitchy and picking fights with other girls not in their 'group'. A lot of sassing going on right now.

Poor duckies!  Are your leaves falling yet?

Why don't sheep shrink in the rain?

Why is there brail at drive up ATMs??

Why are their floatation devices instead of parachutes in my airplain seat???

If a tree falls in the woods and my husband doesn't hear it, am I still wrong????
