Dutch, what a WONDERFUL job you did saving that boy of yours!! I bet he is as sweet as he looks.

Christine.... I can see a resemblance in conformation with my boy!  Amazing how Easy Jet always threw very type-y big babies.  How tall is he?  Justice is technically a paint that ain't, aka breeding stock paint.  I mostly do primitive backcountry camping/trail riding with him now, but he's also done a lot of clinics, group rides, foxhunting and even two endurance (LD) events. I ride in a treeless enduro saddle, english rigged, with a rope halter.

Its a picture of before (one year ago next month-before we started-red steel siding ) a picture of during (mid summer last year-steel siding is off)  and after  (October last year).  This place is 136 now, and very much a work in progress.  Its only primed and awaiting more repairs to siding ,porches, balconies.....   My hatching room is upstairs on the right side  ( behind the ugly door to nowhere / ex-balcony )

Actually, this was not a neglect issue.  His momma got sick when he was a month old, and she passed it to him in her milk.  She quit nursing him, and he was so pitiful I took him home so I could give him round the clock care, and lots of goat milk.  I was working for a lady that bred colored performance/show/working horses.  We had already lost 3 foals at that point.

Oh wow!!  I love resurrected old houses!!  Especially old farm houses.  LOVE IT!

Pocket still hasn't opened her eyes. She is furry now though, and tail is getting bushier.

All right... back to the finding cayuga mate saga.... having seen Sue's birds from Metzer... here are pics of Twist and Squeak at 8 weeks.  Do you see what I'm seeing in terms of posture being different, like my guys' necks and legs seem shorter.  The 2nd pic (of Squeak) is with him standing in his more upright posture.  Also, FYI, these pics were taken in unlit garage... not in sunlight.  The colors are much more amazing than shown.

Here he is when I brought him home, 6wks old and orphaned....looked like death walking!

Glad ya'll like the old place.  It isn't a farm house as such, but the cross gable was a very popular farm house design up north at the time it was built.  Around here, small houses were the norm, and this was the beggest place in town for a few years, the builder owned a lumberyard and the livery stable. It has a big barn too.   The railroads brought much grander houses, but I love the big old cross gables, we don't have A/C but it catches every breezy breath of air.  I have a nice view, out on the edge of town.  On the register its listed as the builders show house.  LOL.  Not anymore, but hopefully I can get it back to tidy and a little more airtight! 

I'm telling you, if you sit on the front porch, and look accross the yard, and listen to the birds out back, you almost feel like your drifting back to a slower time.
