Yes please take a pic, we have a splash who was deep bluish toned when hatched. She is now white with lots of color splash all over coming out.
Feel better and healthy vibes for your household!

You don't squeeze to cent sex, you gently pull apart and push inward. Squeezing together wouldn't allow the hemi penis to show most of the time.

The Metzer video is so helpful! I was having trouble with how I was holding the ducklings, but they showed two different ways to do it and that helped a ton. I still need to get one of those nifty tabletop magnifiers though, I don't trust my eyes.

He has a lonely black drake, so this way, I could get the sex he needed. 5 girls, and a boy...all blue. He's gonna be so excited when he gets home from school and finds ducklings in the brooder! I'm sure they will all have names by nightfall, LOL

So I pipped a little hole in the shell and sure enough shrink Wrap, the memebrane was all white and sucked down onto the little duckling. You could see where his beak was because the membrane was sucked down onto it so I wet it down to see if their were any huge veins in the way and then made a little hole in the membrane for his beak.
I didn't want to go any further so back in the bator he went. You can see him moving his bill, but no sounds yet. I was afraid the other egg (Ancona) would be the same, so I opened it up just a tiny bit and could see that it had made it into the air cell just fine and probably would have external pipped if I had given it time, but the runner egg was def in trouble.
I'm not rushing anything, but I have my fingers crossed that I got to this runner baby just in time.
Hope your little runner is doing well!

But I have good reason....need a still air for hatching. Bought a Genesis for main incubator, and will unplug fan on the Hovabator I am already using and use it as a hatcher. I like to use my Lyon as a "hair dryer", lol.
You will be thrilled with the Genesis.

Ouch! My lab/chow has taken my legs out from under me many times. Cracked me right in the knee with his hard head and had me rolling around in the lawn crying.

Awesome! Great job! Wanna come over and help us build another duck run?

My daughter's Shepard mix has an uncanny ability to step on my feet. That really hurts.
QJ--updated puppy pics? Have you named her? Since she's showing interest in your furniture, you could name her Sofa.
We've got a fox (or maybe a pair) hanging around, eating field mice. Yay, something new to worry about. It's beautiful, though.
Beautiful fox, but I'd be nervous having it in my yard. We have coyotes up here and they're not nearly as attractive.

They don't look to shabby

Every couple hours, the paper towels were re-moistened, but they all died over the next 2 days. When they were opened, they still hadn't completely absorbed the yolk. Do ancona eggs take longer than normal to hatch? Of the 4 runner eggs, 2 were early quitters, 1 quit around day 10, and 1 hatched with a little help. It hatched 2 days early, but is doing great! We also acquired a trio of cotton patch geese this past weekend! So fun!
runner baby at 4 days old....blurry, but still cute!

cotton patch babies....the third little fuzzy butt is down in the corner....camera shy :)

all 3 goslings snuggling with my daughter

My son suggested "Peck-er" as a name... his duck is going to remain named Tiny, even though she's a big, beautiful pekin!

They will be going to live in kansas. That will put me back down to 7 ducks, until this weekend when CG's hopefully hatch. Then I'm overduck populated again, lol.
I can't seem to get enough to fill my orders. I'm sure it'll change at some point!
