Slowly working the babies out. Some yolk left to absorb, so I think they will be good overnight. The Ancona is pretty much ready to just kick off the shell at this point, but since it's navel is still large I'm leaving him be tonight. The runner I'm not rushing since he is just starting to wiggle in the shell a bit...... So I think I'll go get me some sleep and check up on them in the morning.

I have a Penciled Runner duckling and one on its way! There are more working, but they are much further behind.

Awwwww..... so cute. My little guy is hanging in..... Still a tiny bit of yolk down in that shell. I just now got the head free and out. The little Ancona has kicked it's shell off and I don't have far to go with the little runner.

I am very nervous about having it in the yard.  It's prob 150 feet north of our barn, hunting rodents, every morning and evening.  We have about 20 acres, with one side being a creek.  It's probably half wooded, and there are a lot of rock ledges and places for dens in the woods.  I'm torn, because I'm a "live and let live" kind of person.  But I'm going to be seriously youknowwhat if it starts sniffing around the south side of the barn, where the duck pen is.  So far, it seems very happy with the rodents living on that hillside.  I heard somewhere that the rodents will be worse this year, due to the mild winter.  Super. roll.png

I've been trying to figure out if I can get a baby monitor to reach from the barn to the house.  Hubby says it's about 137 yards.  Our wifi won't reach that far.  Walkie talkies have issues.  So I think I'm down to a baby monitor, unless I run yet another wire through an area that is full of telephone, internet, electric, and boiler lines.  One of our daughters is living in an apartment in the barn, but this fox doesn't seem bothered by humans.  So I don't think her activities will hinder it.  She's 21, so you can imagine her activities.  barnie.gif

Sugi, they make motion activated sprinklers. You set them up on a water line or hose angle the direction needed and set. Will spray anything that triggers it.

I have a Muscovy Pip this morning.  Guess they were rocking after all.  I've read that Muscovies take a long time to hatch.  pop.gif caf.gif

Bantam Red Cochins, Mille Fluer D'Uccle, Free ranging guineas - Pearl, Pied, Buff, Violet, Lavender.  One RIR hen and one Black Australorp hen (Henny) who is a spoiled rotten pet.  Variety of Maran babies.  One great husband, three kids, and two dogs.  I'm a chick-a-holic so I have an ever changing number of feather kids.

How weird. I thought they were shy and all that? Guess they forgot to tell your fox there.

Really? That would be kind of fun to set up by the gate. lol.png

I second that - extremely cute baby.  I honestly think baby ducks might be cuter than chicks.  They always look like they are smiling.  gig.gif
