I want to build myself an incubator, but I know nothing of electronics.  But my hubby does.  And my FIL is a freaking genius and retired electrician.. so I think I can do this.  But my question is... What do you use to as heat?  Like... what is the "heat maker thingy" called?  Cuz I know I'd need a thermostat and a fan of somesort..

ChickenCrazy- Where do you find the SOP's for a breed?

More babies!!!!!   And that's cool about the Canadian Geese.

Yes, Worth it farms!  I am so excited about them.  I wanted a variety of color, I love COLOR!  My plan is to keep a lavender and a blue from her lines, still waiting on a lavender from Jaz.  I also have a dozen boondockers eggs (that I got for free celebrate.gif) in the bator.  They are all fertile and due around the 29th.  Maybe down the road I will even get some eggs from you once you get more color.  I plan to breed towards Holderreads so-called standard also.  I think I am off to a great start.  Jaz asked me if I put my pictures up yesterday and I told her no, because I was afraid someone was going to critique them.  Not because Worth it has bad Anconas (they are awesome) but because everyone has a different set standard.  To her, maybe she feels that the bills are correct or maybe she is in the process of correcting them.  Can't knock her for trying.  I decided WTH and posted my pics anyway.  I was right, they got critiqued.  wink.png  Really, truly it doesn't actually bother me because I know that this is just a start in the direction I am going.  Gotta start somewhere.

"Bill: Medium in length and width; attatched to the head at about the same level as top of eyes; top line slightly concave when viewed from the side." (Holderread)

Did your stock come from Worth it bloodline as well? The side profile on pic at the top is a great view to assess the bills and they do seem a bit long. The top of the bill should be slightly concave when viewed from the side and The blue with lots of color on it's chest is showing a good bill and maybe the black one, but the other blue and the choc look to be lacking that slight concave along the top of their bill. I don't know if they will grow out of this or not since I don't have any like this, but you certainly have some nice colors to work with. Love the blue with all the color on her chest. she would be my pick.

That sucked too.  So someone says to lay them down.  3rd batch I lay them on their sides and don't use the turner.  All hatch.  And ever since them I haven't used a turner.  Except for the chickens.

Hi QJ!

Argh...so many different ways to do it.  So confused barnie.gif  I laid my first batch down, didn't end up with any.  But standing up doesn't seem to be much better, either.

Lay them with the bottom of the dip facing up.  What do you run your humidity at?

I disagree....

I think the side profile pic is not a great way to asses s the bills..... I think it was meant to assess the breast sizes ~ looks like some could be A's  but a couple I beleive might be some big D's!  gig.gif

I think the ones with the longer bills will taste better with garlic, and the shorter bills will be best grilled with bacon.   Thats the JazminesZoo Standard droolin.gif
