Then about a month ago they wanted to buy 7 doz of the duck eggs and that both of thier kids have allergies to chicken eggs. I laughed and said that they are fertile but have been in the frige. They did'nt care as I was the only one who would sell eating duck eggs. I guess they forgave me and are now very good customers. I thought of refusing them but I wanted to be the bigger person. Glad that your situation has been resolved.
Wow. My boss got a call recently asking if we sold fertile eggs. He went on the whole spiel about how they are brought in twice a day, refridgerated, etc, so there'd be no surprises. The lady laughed and told him she had heard that fertile eggs are healthier for you and that she wasn't worried about finding a baby chick or anything weird.

I love it when they're at that awkward stage where they have feathers in the middle of the head and fluff on the sides. Like an old man with a bald spot.

He's so sweet...told me yesterday that if I don't have success hatching Calls, I could hatch his Runner's eggs because he was sure they would hatch with no problem. LOL Reminded him it would be awhile before they were old enough to lay. Anyone know at what age they usually start laying? He doesn't even have these out of the brooder yet and he's counting eggs!
I have pools to change out and clean in the Call's condos, today. And housing to plan for the Runner's once they are ready to go outside.
They lay when they're ready. I've given up trying to figure it out any further than that because everything I'd read was wrong when I tried to apply it to my flock.
I got a cayuga egg today, btw. Finally!

So someone says to lay them down. 3rd batch I lay them on their sides and don't use the turner. All hatch. And ever since them I haven't used a turner. Except for the chickens.
Yes lay them down.

I think the ones with the longer bills will taste better with garlic, and the shorter bills will be best grilled with bacon. Thats the JazminesZoo Standard
