FYI, moisture will evaporate in egg and thus air cell will get larger, regardless of whether there is a growing baby inside. However, it will not make the extreme dip unless baby is turning, which would mean it is still alive.

let me see what I can do.  None of the eggs I feel sure have quit have dips.

What I'm seeing on the quitters is cells that are flat across, and no veins.  The one good one has lots of veins, and has dipped...I have seen it progress.  This is day 22.

These pictures suck, but it's hard to hold my camera and the flashlight and get a clear pic.  I don't know how to upload pics from my cell.  There seems to be a lot of empty space, and I'm used to eggs getting ready to hatch to be hard to candle, and dark.

I do 100 for mine.  Forced air.

I also garden for canning and freesing, and I like salad and herbs.  I'd love to see a garden pic QJ.

I'm going out this weekend to plant tomatoes.. I'll take a pic!

My cream legbar has a hurt leg.  She limps and is laying down.  I put her by herself with food and water.  Anything else I can do?

You people with broody ducks.. I've left the eggs in their nest to see kinda what happens.  Well, the ancona hen has pulled feathers from her chest and covered the nest.  There are about 12 eggs in there.  thoughts?  Julie- has she ever set for ya?

my guess is she prolly just strained a muscle or stoved it up or something.

just give her a little time. see how it is tomarrow.

if my ducks get over zelous and jump out of the coop wrong (its a small jump)

they will limp for a coupel hours and then be fine.
