So not only did I lose my call duckling, one of the only 2 girl EE chicks I got to hatch is gone. They are all still with momma, and everyone was acting normal. I'd just seen the chick (little blue girl) an hour before, and the flock was acting normal so it wasn't a hawk. If they come close everyone hides for hours. I'm guessing people across the streets tom cat they let roam everywhere. Whatever then, makes me mad I spent all that time and money for 4 roosters and 1 pullet now. So I'm just selling them all. I'm so frustrated right now. Setting up my live trap tonight and if I catch that cat it's going to the pound. Even if it didn't get the chick I'm sick of it pooping in my yard and jumping in the chickens pen and harassing them. hit.gif

Lol, I know. I'm more irritated than anything because I think it was the cat, and that now it'll come back for more babies. Don't want them out there with momma anymore, but have no room and have more babies inside I need to put out eventually. I've trapped that cat and rolled the cage and sprayed it with water, chased it a billion times, shot it with a bb gun, everything and it keeps coming back. I'm out of ideas, other than get my own tomcat and raise it to be a coop cat. hu.gif But I'd have to get a kitten to raise with the chickens, or find a barn cat raises around them. A kitten would take awhile before it was big enough to chase off other cats.

Have you talked to the neighbor or are you on good terms with them?  If they're not crazy psychos, I'd just explain what's happening and tell them you'll be setting a live trap, so if they're cat goes missing they'll have to go pay the fee to get him out of the pound.

Oh yeah, someone was asking (for got who - I wish I could figure out how to do the multiple quote thing) about ideas for excess duck eggs.  Have you tried marketing them as dog food?  I feed my duck eggs to my dogs.
