Just sold my extra snowy drake. He went to a home with an acre and a half pond, and 2 snowy girlfriends. big_smile.png  Poor guy had been hanging out with the geese more than the ducks lately since they've paired off, so I'm sure he'll be happy with 2 girlfriends of his own.

Which also means, not counting the babies I only have 4 ducks right now. th.gif Time to visit ebay....

Dutch, maybe do both? lol

Julie, congrats!  Just read your comment to my canadian geese pics on the other thread.  Is it true they will move in permanently?  Will they eventually integrate with my flock or set up separate flocks in same area?  I only moved onto this property last summer but have not seen wild geese around here until the past couple of weeks.

For those who do not read the other thread.... here is the post and pics:

I had an interesting morning with my ganders & african juvenile flock.  The flock is now in a routine of sleeping overnight by ponds in pasture, then coming up to feeding area when I feed horses in the morning.  Since we turned babies out, we have seen a pair of canadian geese attempt to integrate with flock... and this morning there are now 2 pairs in my pasture!  The one pair appears to be setting up a nest and the other pair tried to come up to my birds.  One gander ran them off while the other gander herded them away.  I found it very fascinating, but I have no idea what it all means.  I tried to get pics... they didn't turn out too well, but I think you can see.  The first pic is where the one gander is starting his charge while the other is herding babies away.  The 2nd pic is after gander finished his charge and returning with the one canadian pair together by fence and the other pair (which appear to be setting up a nest?) is just behind them.  Oh, and please disregard all the tires.... that is our drag that hubby forgot to put away the other week.

Hers are pretty much paired seperately, but they have little affairs with other partners so occasionally they hatch out mixed between the groups. She's had her africans for 7-8 years, toulouse for 2-3, and the canadas have been there as long as the toulouse. The canadas used to stick to the pond out in the pasture before that, now they all stay around the pond by the house, although wild ones come nest at the other. I think as long as they have a year round source of food/water they tend not to leave. There are a lot more canadas here in the summer, but quite a few don't migrate.

Ok...here is what I did.  Since I haven't had good luck shipping eggs this year, and I really really want dewlap goslings, I called Carole.  She has lots of goslings, and very, very good prices....sooooo, I asked if I could change from the eggs to a pair of goslings, instead.  She said YES!!!  So instead of 4 eggs, I am getting 2 sexed goslings!  I am getting a buff gander, and a grey goose!  They will be here Tuesday!!!  She is such a nice lady!  And she has a lot of goslings, so she was happy to make the change for me.  She has around 100 dewlaps running around!  ep.gif

My momma always told me, "a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush".  Sexed goslings is a sure bet over eggs, any day!  wink.png

For sure. No worries about if and what hatches out. Just sweet cuddly goslings, and no month long wait.
