QJ, eating is so important to give her strength to fight. It sounds like she is a fighter.  I know you will continue to do everything you can for her.  Fingers are still crossed she pulls through!!

My menagerie includes 5 horses, 3 dogs, 4 cats, 33 geese (dewlap toulouse & african) and 11 ducks (muscovy, ancona, cayuga & silver appleyard).

NPIP Certified- #UT-179

Hey Jade!  how exciting!  Are you measuring humidity and what are you hatching in?

Coturnix are generally housed in a raised pen.  They need about 1 sq ft per bird full grown.  28% gambird starter or turkey starter is preferred.  They need HIGH protein their entire life.  No need to switch from starter to layer/grower unless you want to.  Oyster shell for calcium when laying, They LOVE dirt baths.  When building a pen try to make sure the poop stays dry.   The wetter it gets the stinkier it gets.  Here is my pen....  I love that it has pull out trays.  I add their poop to my compost/garden.

I'm ordering some buff american goalings from metzers! big_smile.png 4 straight run. Can't afford pairs.... And don't worry... I won't kill them hit.gif

So, I just put some duck hatching eggs on CL to earn a bit of extra cash. I have a month to earn $42 so I can get the goslings. Think I can do it? I'm also babysitting my moms friends grandaughter, so I will get some cash from that.

Anyone want some duck eggs? big_smile.png I'm pretty sure my WH drake is getting his thing on. I caught him with the one of the nice WH hen in the pool. Yay! I don't feel that they are pure yet, so they may... Just MAY be mixed with ancona. ... All I have laying is the 3 wh hens.
A small flock of ducks (3 welsh harlequins and a rouen) a pair of american geese, a lovely anatiolian shepherd, and 10 ducklings ariving on march 18th!!!!!!

Eyeheart answered pretty good. Gamebird starter (only place I've found around here with it is Feldmans in Liberty, haven't seen it at orschelns or tsc). Feed that from start to finish, plus oyster shell for the layers. 1 sq foot per bird, one boy for each 6 or so girls. They start laying and are ready to process at about 8 weeks. 17-18 days for incubation. Candle day 10, developers will be dark, clears will be clear. If you can see through it toss it. Pretty pointless to candle for movement or veining, I can never see either.

Mine get peat moss. They love it, but sand would work as well or better. They are ground dwellers so don't need a perch/roost, but appreciate somewhere to rest their feet off the wire.

Hi quackerjack! Incubating in a brinsea octagon 20. I've no way to measure humidity, no. Have kept both channels full throughout. Occasional peeping and rocking, but no proper progress. Am very nervous!
