Goslings arrived in good condition....thirsty and hungry.  They are so big their heads more than bump the lid on my brooder, and I don't even have any shavings in there...just a rubber mat for traction.  Can't believe they rode in a little chick box, so far.  ARGH!  I'm going to set them up outside in a bit, once they have satisfied their bellies.

Yes Celtic....I'm having a hard time holding my tongue at this point!  Very glad to be done with that situation!  I certainly don't need anymore goslings from her...already have an extra pair of something I didn't ever want to begin with.  Not to mention age difference is huge between these guys and the gang.  Can't believe hubby has to report for duty????  Doesn't suprise me though...that's the military for you.  I'm assuming they have him on a desk job or something?

Utah....glad Spirit is doing well this morning.  I'll see what I can do about some pics today, though the geese spend a lot of time in the shade, panting.  Really hot and sticky here, grass is pretty crunchy.

The other buff gander first presented to me as a strong 2 on the lameness scale on Sunday.  He had improved with 48 hours rest to a 1 by the time he went to dvm yesterday.  He received an anti-inflammatory injection into his joint and advised to continue rest for another 72 hours.  He has improved somewhat since yesterday, and I'd rate him as a .5 on the lameness scale this morning.  He should be perfectly fine in a day or two. big_smile.png

Update on Spirit:  I am in a little bit of shock this morning.  I was fully expecting to have to give her pain medications and put her in a sling to prevent splaying this morning.  However, she is keeping legs under her, getting up and around without struggling, and does not appear to be in any distress.  She is happily greeting me, eating and drinking really well too.  I have a call out to the vet to report observations and see if ok to double indoor pen size and/or let her go outside for a while. ya.gif

Iain- Glad to see Spirit is living up to her name. Good luck with the new vet and treatment plan.

Celtic- hugs.gif Sorry to hear about hubby's troubles, and can't believe he is having to report for duty! Glad to hear your little man is stepping up and helping, he sounds like such a good boy. My littlest is about 17 months too,  and just started walking this week. (she was 2 months premature and has a bully of a 2 year old sister knocking her around though so that doesn't surprise me)

Dutch- Glad the last set of goslings arrived safe and sound, if a bit cramped. smile.png

Bummer.  Guess you need to have your folks build you a garage with steps up to a loft.  You can have an emergency evac "ark" in your back yard, and not the back hallway!  LOL  Poor Kevin.

What's more unreasonable?  Me for being myself, or you for expecting me to be someone else?

lau.gif. I have NEVER seen so much rain in my life before th.gif. Luckily it's only a slight chance of scattered showers so everyone will be back in their pens tomorrow
