hugs.gif Well, I've been looking for a runner forever and I guess karma paid me back since I found one today, lol. Evidently I need to be a bit MORE of a good person though, and then I can rescue some female runners, lol.

I contacted the superintedant of the parks and recreation dept. He gave me the ok. wink.png I wanted to go last week, when I saw a big pekin girl but waited until I got official permission. BTW, apparently I was too late for the poor pekin girl, she was no longer there. WIsh I hadn't waited and had just got her when I saw her. There were however, 4 new ducks there. The runner I caught, his rouen buddy, and a 3-4 week pekin duckling and a rouen mix looking one around the same age. A scovy hen too, but she could fly and I was hoping was just lost.

I'm glad the legal way worked for you! I'll admit I've tried before but the park rangers down here are just smack.gif. So I may one day do some off the record rescues... hide.gif. And hugs.gif for the pekin girls. You've already changed these guys lives forever Julie! hugs.gif

I was planning on trying with or without permission. hide.gif Luckily the parks and rec guy was pretty cool and said catch all the ducks I want and just don't touch the canada geese or mallards or I'd be in trouble with the dept of conservation. Which is fine with me. I already have a canada goose "living" in my yard. Of course, she's not mine, she just chooses to live with my birds, and since it's illegal to harass migratory waterfowl it's not like I can chase her off or anything. wink.png

He sounds pretty awesome! You can go on a duck catching spree droolin.gif Maybe I should have tried higher up management because the rangers were jerks to say the least.

There was another duck there that I originally went to go after, but I didn't see him anywhere. Poor things don't last long at the parks.

Indeed they don't. I looked back at some old pictures of the park near where I grew up... and all of the ducks on that pond were domestic ducks. Had I only known then, I would have had an excuse to try and bring home ducks (in the suburbs).
