No, maybe too late in year for eggs, you'll just have to see if there is anything available and go with it.  If shipping eggs, get 6 for two babies, since shipping isn't always a good thing.  The hatch rate will usually be reduced.

Hey all, things are a bit crazy around here, but I wanted to drop in and hey hi! We are leaving on Saturday for Cali to pick up the dewlap geese flock, so lots going on with that to get ready.  But I have two pieces of news.... Twist (my precious cayuga) has given me 3 beautiful eggs in the past 3 days.  We plan to have eggs for breakfast tomorrow.  Never had duck eggs before.  Am looking forward to it!  Also, today was Spirit's weekly vet visit.  As usual, we removed the 3rd corrective cast then took her outside to walk on grass.  But instead of doing another cast, vet decided to leave her barefoot and change her routine dramatically.  Fingers crossed it works!  Here she is at the vet clinic:

Good luck with the trip, do be safe.  I must have missed it, but your going to get a flock of geese??  OK.  What kind of dewlap?  How big a flock?

I hope you like twists eggs.  We eat duck eggs a lot.  They are a bit firmer to the tooth than a chicken egg, but make higher and fluffier baked goods. DH eats them for breakfast all the time and loves them.  Try them for fluffy pancakes!  I also love mine in quiche, as the firmer quality actually works well with the cheeses, and they don't fall apart quite so easy.  I suppose theyd be good for soufle, but I've never tried to make one yet! 

So, he's leaving spirit w/o a cast this week.  Its hard to tell from the pic, but how is the foot?  It looks open and quite normal, but like I said, its not a clear view.  I, like others, have beenn following spririts journey with interest.

Sue and Marty, thanks for the kind words of support for Spirit.   Yes, the vet wanted to see how she would do without a wrap.  Unfortunately, it is a disaster so far and I have a call into the vet already this morning to bring her back in.

As for the geese... I am helping liquidate a dewlap flock from a breeder in Cali.  I believe you know the lady, as you hatched eggs of hers.

I ended up just getting 4 rougen ducklings.  Figured I'd have better luck starting that way.  I would have loved to have hatched some.  Maybe next spring.

One of the goslings is showing signs of neurological problems . I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with the special needs Turkey. The other Turkey is beginning to get pissy. I can't rehome the White Chinese Geese to save my life. Plus no one wants to take the Mallard Drake. This has not been my week
