EE x Black Cochin - Page 2

Hey, your EE boy looks quite a lot like mine!  I love his coloration.  I've recently had a genetics lesson also and learned that he is golden duckwing with dominant white or golden pyle.  My boy is in my avatar but here's the pic much larger:

It never ceases to amaze me how similar "mutt" chickens can look.  Your little one has the duckwing markings, too -- I'm putting my money on pullet chick.

My goodness, but he is handsome.  Alas, I don't have this boy anymore but he left his mark to be sure.  I have another mama sitting on eggs and my guess is that he will show up there too.

I don't know what Magnum ( rooster) came from.  I got him at a feedstore for a broody whose eggs didn't hatch and he was the only white EE there.

None of my Mamas have feathered feet and all of te babies do, so I guess Feisty's feather gene is dominant! Coool!

I don't know what's in Clark's ancestry either but he's super mellow, has a rather fine bone structure (terrific flyer!), and cheek puffs he can just barely see past.  That fountain behind him continues to grow and grow and it seems he's constantly getting new tail feathers (the photo was taken at 25 weeks, he's 30 now).  I'm excited to see how he turns out pop  I don't know that I'll ever hatch any of his offspring (he does have two bent toes...) but he's pretty, doing a fine job protecting the girls, and I couldn't ask for a more agreeable disposition.

Yes, I will say that Magnum's personality was good and he was not mean.  He was protective and a great flyer too!  I would have kept him, but I have two beautiful Golden Laced Cochin Roosters and Magnum (EE) was starting to be dominant over them.  He was getting all the girls, and the two GL Cochin boys would run to them but then back down.  Flock dynamics were being dismantled after a very long time getting there!!
