I'm pretty pleased so far withe my small coop feeder design. It's 3" pvc reduced to 2" so that the access won't be as wide reducing mess and wast.

The waterer is the one on the left with the red vertical nipple in the pic above. Here you can see one of my hens getting a drink. As I live in Colorado I have a bird bath heater I put in it during the winter, hence the cords you see. This came as an accessory to the coop I purchased. It's made from 4'' pvc so the heater will fit. For some reason the last 6 to 8 inches is reduced down. Personally I would of left it all 4'' so the heater could rest closer to the nipple and help to keep it from freezing even more. If you would like more detailed pics perhaps I could take some tomorrow, it's currently snowing here.
Just got the suggestion i needed to start another project (extension of this one). I'm going to check if my current heaters will fit in a 4" pvc pipe? If so I'm going to train my chicks to use nipples. They spill more than they drink and even though i hang them as high as possible to allow them to drink, they still get the waterers pretty messey.
