An over view of where I live. Couldn't possibly be any predators hiding about. Lived here for a year, haven't heard about any bears being around. Have most other predators about though. We have deer in our yard from time to time, I've never considered them a predator to my hens, only to the garden.
Beautiful photo! I get nostalgic for my rural farm days! About deer - they are not so much predators to chickens as they are very spooky and unpredictable animals. A suddenly startled deer (which doesn't take much to startle them) will bolt suddenly doing damage to humans, property, fences, vehicles, pets, other animals, even running into buildings. They are a nuisance to the garden of course, but deadly weapons when startled. A body can get skewered by those pointed sharp hooves or big antlers (which a deer did massive damage with its antlers to our rental car on vacation). I never drive my own vehicle but rent a car for vacations or long trips because deer will run break-neck-speed head-on into vehicles on the highways. I saw a video of a deer that jumped into a city bus and totally thrashed the seats and broke the front windshield in its panic to get out again and it was just a young thing with no antlers but boy those hooves were deadly - bus driver was lucky to live through it.
