27 chickens, purebreds and crosses of Buff Orpington, Australorp, Barred Rock, Rhode Island Red, and Dark Cornish, plus a Silkie/Cochin cross bantam.

Raising 100% Grass-Fed Black Angus beef in the beautiful Ozarks of Missouri. No grain, GMOs, antibiotics, or hormones. Lots of green grass and sunshine, the way beef is supposed to be raised!

I have a hatchery SS roo that looks like the less spangled one.  I hatched one daughter from him (and a less-spangled hen) that has a lot of white, so it varies within the breed.  I just went to the Ohio Nationals (as a spectator) this past weekend and although I did not see any male SS there I was struck by how much different the SQ hens were from my own hatchery girls.  They had a completely different body shape--they could have been a different breed entirely.  Just a heads-up if you're planning to breed or show hatchery SS smile
