Spring Granny Square Swap

Beanie head huggers I made for my DD to take to work at camp for her to donate to the Camp Staff Auction for The Campership Fund.
The green one was a very last min attempt to stitch the camp's logo. Not a great job, but DD said the staff loved it and wish I had made more.

I decided to make a few more since many of the staff expressed interest in them. I brought this blue & green one with me when I went to go visit my DD on her day off of work. The logo is getting better, but still needs work.

The afghan is beautiful. Glad you found someone to donate to. I love those beanies also. I can see why people want them.

I do quilting for the women's and childrens center and crochet preemie baby beanies for our Lodge to donate to a hospital in LA that has a large neonatel unit. I received a call this morning from a lady who has been receiving the Masonic newsletter for four years that actually was meant for her sister who moved to Alaska. She said she'd called several times over the years to have her sisters name taken off the mailing list but it never happened. Anyway I told her she got a hold of the right person and would make sure she doesn't get anymore of them. We got to chatting and found out that she likes to crochet and crochets baby afghans for the local women and children's shelter and when I mentioned I use granny squares a lot in afghans I crochet she said she had a bunch of them I could have, that she wasn't using them for what she does so tomorrow I will go by her house (she's just down the road) and pick them up. She said she has some red, blue and pink and maybe a few other colors. I know I'll use them.

I'm about halfway finished with the blue runner I'm doing. I've been so busy this week with helping friends move and I worked for the lady that published the magazine yesterday. She had a large order for back issues but couldn't take care of it herself as the boxes are heavy and she just had a pacemaker put in and can't lift. My garden is keeping me busy also.

I watched a snake this morning hunt for breakfast. It was a red racer and harmless to people but it would go down a mouse hole and then come back up, just sticking itself about 6" into the hole. It did this to several holes but on the last one it went down about one and a half feet (half it's legnth) and came back out with a mouse in it's mouth and proceeded to eat it. I've never seen a snake catch anything like that before. I hope it keeps up so my mouse population goes down.

Love those beanies Kim! That was so sweet of you to crochet them for the camp!

Alethea that is awesome that you found someone to donate to! I am wanting to find a group around here to donate to. I thought I had found one but the lady who was so excited when she saw the stuff I wanted to donate gave me a name and number to call to set up delivery and that person has never returned my calls. Not taking it personally since the other person hasn't seen my stuff but I still need to find a local organization that would benefit from them and really wants them.

Woo Hoo!!! Less mice! That is one of the drawbacks to living in the country, lots of mice.
