Spring Granny Square Swap - Page 8

Thank you for the info on JoAnne's sale.  I just ordered some of the super saver yarn in lighter colors to add to what I have. I also ordered a couple of colors I've used a lot of in the past but couldn't get anymore at Walmart. I know spring colors have other colors besides these cool colors but our imagination can go wild with them.  You don't need a multitude of colors, just a few in the cool color wheel.

I'm starting to think that I may make a four season afgan with different colors from these swaps.  Well the four seasons won't be so literal.  I will use whatever comes from the next few swaps unless they really clash, of course.  Can't imagine they would though unless one of the swaps goes to neon colors or something like that.   tongue

I like the colors you already have Kim and yes, they look very springy!

The four season square blanket sounds so nice.  I think I'll make a fall one and a spring one.  tongue  Thanks for checking my colors. I thought they looked like they matched the color wheel.  I might order some yarn from Joann's before the special is over with, but haven't had time to look at the colors online. They have so many brands etc.  What brand of yarn did you order?  Just curious. I think my stash I posted is Red Heart.  The light purple is definitely Red Heart called "Pale Plum". I lost the sleeves for the others long ago.  I thought I had some blue yarn somewhere. Hmmm....I guess I need to dig a little deeper in my stash again.  tongue

I've never been good with colors so when someone says cool or warm, Winter or Spring, etc. I have to get it set into my mind what I'm doing! We have several dark blue squares already made, and a few we will use for own projects because mixing the lime green with hot pink, or dusty rose and some other colors. The students came back today ready to work!

I know what you mean.  I like having a palette or color wheel to go by. It helps me a lot. If I don't order yarn from JoAnn's tonight then I'm going to print the color wheel off and take it to the store with me to help me pick out yarn.

I ordered some of that pale plum as well as a pale green and some others.  I ordered six colors I think but some were colors I like to use all the time and Walmart wasn't carrying thewm anymore.

I think the pales will add interest to any of the other cool colors.  I think it will be fun to do this spring swap..

Oh sorry, you asked this already in your pm but I spaced.   tongue
I bought the Caron simply soft in a variety of cool colors, dark and light colors.  I thought the dark colors would look awesome on a light background for contrast.  I have the color "Pistachio", that's my favorite but it is lighter than real pistachios.  I also got a rich teal that is called "Ocean", I love this color too.  Then I got a purple that is called "Passion" which is not what I was hoping for.  It looked like a rich deep purple on my monitor but in reality has a lot of red so I probably won't use this color.  Lastly, I got a light blue which they call "Blueberry" but is even paler than a sky blue.  I also already had a baby blue, a grey blue, a lavender and a couple different shades of green.  The lavender is Bernat's Baby soft so if I use this it will be for decoration only not the main body of the square.  It's just too fine for that.   smile   I still need a dark rich purple.  It will look so good against the other colors I have.
