SHOW OFF!

Your coop is lovely! I really like how you've got the rabbit hutch with it too! My neighbor would be so jealous! He's got to travel all over the back yard to take care of his chooks and bbits, but yours is like, all in one stop shopping!

I really like it.

At the very least, wipe the poop off your feet before getting in the car.

It is beautiful. But I would think about some vents high up under the eaves. What climate are you in? (didn't see a location near your name)

Owned by 4 dogs, 3 house cats, countless fish, and 5 hens, 12 pullets: 3 production red pullets, 5 americauna pullets and hens, and 7 black australorp. And 4 grandchildren. And 2 beehives.. Bees have had a rough year.

Your coop is lovely!  Although you are not a carpenter (by trade) - you're quite handy!  I like the rustic/natural looking wood siding better than painted or stained.

I do have a suggestion or two.  If you fill the coop with wood chips/shavings for bedding, you'll want to add a lip at least 6" high around the trap door so all the shavings don't get kicked out.

Rain gutters are excellent.  I have one, but it doesn't go into a barrel since there's not enough runoff to keep one full.  The downspout just drains onto a flagstone and off into the flowerbeds that surround my coop.  Rain barrels are simple to make from a plastic trash can.

Other members have mentioned venting, and you've addressed that - so I'm not gonna go there.

The chickens will roost and poop all over the nest boxes.  If you run your roosts longwise in the coop over the nest boxes, add a poop board just at the top height of the nest boxes.  Cover it with vinyl flooring or a few coats of paint.  Most of the pooping happens at night and not only will this make coop cleaning easier, it will fix the problem of keeping the hens off the nest boxes.  This will also give you more roosting space for your birds.   My roosts are at window height and that way I can easily see into the coop to check on everyone.  I also think they enjoy the view! wink

Have fun!

birdboy15 No Offense taken, I didn't think about adding anything around the trap door, I will add a Lip around it I don't think Ill go 6 Inches Prob more like 2 I don't mind if some falls out.

Kbruce No Problem I used Pulleys and I Bolts to run the Rope though and I used Clips on Each end to hook them. The Position of the I Hooks will also determine how hard the rope is to pull when Opening the door.

I live in Eastern NY About 2 Hrs North Of NYC.

For not being a carpentar you did a beautiful job. Your very lucky to have a lot of land. Your chickens will love it. I think everyone covered all the rest. Have fun and enjoy. welcome-byc

With all the weight on the top perch, it's gonna fall. (learned from experience). I agree that the area beneath the coop is too small for 10 chickens and you may consider extending that in the future. Over crowded chickens will fight and pick each other and can be prone to disease. Excellent design. I love that you included the bunny hut which could also be used to house quail!wee

this coop is way big enuf for 10 birds

Lovely coop!

You'll probably want to change the configuration of the roosts, though. It's hard to tell from the angle of the picture, but it looks like poop from the birds on the top roost will fall on the ones roosting below. Consider making your roosts all at the same level to avoid squabbling within the flock (they all will want to roost on the highest rung).
