Which breeders have the purest greens

Probably the ones that have imported green peafowl. On the Texas Peafowl website they say that they got rid of just about all their green peafowl so they could re-start fresh with pure green peafowl. They were noticing that some of the birds just didn't look right.

I think their greens look good. There are several breeders I am sure who have pure greens, but then there are those that sell spaldings as green peafowl.

Indeed Wolfgang Mennig's birds have the best reputation. Rodney Michael's stock, in comparison, is more of a composite of the "prettiest" birds. Few breeders have true spicifer and they sometimes turn out to be forms of imperator.

And Wolfgang's muticus muticus is Malaysian not Javanese. The young birds look like spicifer though. He also notes on that page he has some unusual birds that resemble spicifer but were imported to him as muticus muticus.

Sid at Texas peafowl has or had some of the best stock. Virgil Bates of Florida has fantastic imperator stock. Elton Housely of Alabama has fantastic stock.
One of the foremost aviculturists working with green peafowl is Lewis Eckard also of Florida. Norm Johnson in New York has great stock. Jolan Durrah of Washington state has some of the finest stock in the USA. There are many people that I haven't mentioned here that keep peafowl but do not buy or sell birds to the public as well.
There are many solid aviculturists working with green peafowl in the USA but many more in Asia.

Last week the was an importation of 13 Pavo Muticus Imperator from north Thailand to Germany, they come from Prani farm.
All are young birds in an age between 7 and 8 month and they are comming from 6 different blood lines .
Peacocks are from different regions in north Thailand near to Laos and the parents were taken from the wild.
They arrive in the breeding place of Reinhold ( http://www.pfauenfarm.de/ ).

New blood for Europe !!

I worried about breeders in Asia and Europe, might hybridize the green peafowls, with IB peafowls and cause the extinction of pure races of green peafowls.

DNAs is only way to tell which are which the pure birds.

Pure green peafowls are in very low numbers.

The right question is:    do they have DNA of each type of green peacocks?

I'm the one who have imported the peafowl. It is not possible determine the sub-species by a DNA test, because up to now the sequence in the code where are the sub-species can be determined is not insulated. For this somebody has to spend first a lot of money to start a scientific project.

But the imported once are for one 100% pure pavo muticus imperator. If you will visit the forum

These birds come from North Thailand, where imperator and annamensis have already mixed for hundreds of years, so integradation like this is completely natural.

These birds look very healthy, congratulations Reinhold.

Breeders in Europe are usually more careful about what they breed their stock with, like Wolfgang's stock. For example they know what spicifer looks like. Before European birds were imported to North America, imperator tonkinensis and hybrids were often misidentified as spicifer.
