The top two photos, I really like the fact your buff spotted ones are still showing white!  I see the top one has yellow legs, too.  :)

But the next photos showing that spotted hen, she looks like she has the less "gamey" body type we're looking for.  And her amount of white is just right!  I wish she was a shade lighter and had yellow legs, but overall she does look different from a regular Speckled Sussex, so that's great.

I just now noticed the one on the top right, behind the head of the buff one . . . that's a lot of white on the back of that hidden chickie.

All gorgeous!  But I am really loving the top three in this picture!  The spotted ones all in a row . . . .

Yet the not very spotted ones (now) might color up BEAUTIFULLY around five months old, so we can't count out ANY of these right now.  :)

Here are some chicks that hatched yesterday. I think these might be some of the Aloha/SFH crosses.

SO SO CUTE!

You'll be able to tell "for sure" if they are the SFH chicks if any of the show any BLUE.  (Er, which is actually . . . gray.)  I have no blue in any of my current Alohas, but two of the SFH Roosters have blue tails.  So, when those babies feather out, we'll know for sure if they are SFH x Aloha if any of them show blue feathers . . . blue is a simple dominant which means about half of the chicks would show blue feathering instead of black.

I just took a few photos of the babies, it's been a couple of weeks now since my last pics.  A couple of what look to be Sussex-cross roosters are looking especially nice!

late may misc 029.JPG

This guy is MUCH lighter than my previous half-Sussex roosters.  He is HUGE and has wonderful STOUT body type!  He's heavy and thick, looks like his tail is going to be nice and long.  Best of all, look at all that white!  If he has the Sussex type of spotting, the spots will increase as he matures.  Keeping my fingers crossed . . . if he keeps all the spots, he would be a good rooster to cross with the buff colored daughters of Cheeto . . . . those will carry spots, and this guy shows spots, which means the chicks would be half spotted, and half spotted carriers.

Here's another one, looks like a sibling.  Less black and more red (which is nice!) but on the flip side, a lot less white (bummer) so not sure about this rooster just yet:

If he is the Sussex type spotted, however, he may get MORE white soon.  Versus the Cheeto sons, which unfortunately, are still showing less and less white every day.  (Sigh!)

For doing so well in school, my dad is letting me get 10 more chickens to add to my flock. I can choose between: Rhode Island Reds, Production Red,  Black Australorps, Buff Orpington,  Barred Rock, Ameracauna, Brown Leghorns, Black Jersey Giants, Delaware, Dominique, Gold Laced Wyandotte, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Cinnamon Queen, Golden Comet, Black Sex-link, Red Sex-link, Light Brahma, Speckled Sussex, Welsummer, Lakenvelder, Mottled Houdan, Appenzeller Spitzhauben, Polish, & for Bantams: Cochins, Silkies, Old English, D’uccle, or Sebright. These are the breeds offered by the hatchery that we are buying from. Which would be the best assortment for starting my own Alohas?
