Chickens with swollen eyes

hmm.png
I just finally late yesterday got ahold of my BR pullet and checked and sure enough she has a white wiggly looking worm in the bottom of her eye. I called my local TSC and Southern States and nobody knew what I was talking about or how to treat it. Any help would be appreciated.

I never saw the eye worms on my chickens, but I did see the bubbles and they smelled. VetRx is the name... I drew a blank earlier. I used it by pressing up with a Qtip soaked in VetRx on the pallet and it made the eye of the chicken bubble more and then I could clean the eye with a rag. I did this twice a day while the chickens were isolated from other chickens. They all got better! I also gave them plenty of fresh veggies.

Mix equal parts of valbazen and water, then flush the eye(s) with it. Then dose your infected bird orally 1/2cc valbazen. Repeat this entire procedure in 10 days. There's a 24 day egg withdrawal start to finish.

I had one that died a few months back and she had a smell, now I`m wondereing if that is what it was Told DH he had to help me and hold a chicken for me so I could look for worms in her eyes and he said WHAT ARE LOOKING FOR!!!.Glad to say no worms in her eyes. And she is not coughing or stretching her neck, but will go out later and watch her for awhile.

My chicken has a swollen eye and black spots on her comb. I just noticed it tonight. Not skinny yet. Is this eye worm?

One of my girls had the same - weepy closed eye & lethargic. It could be a bacterial infection. I got some antibiotic eye drops from the chemist (for human conjunctivitis!). 1 drop twice a day in the affected eye & she was almost back to normal in 2 days. Hope this is useful xx
